Rocky...Century just imports them. They don't touch them aside from an electric pencil. My CZ-85 pre-b was brought in by them and is in petty good condition. There's a new SN EP'ed on the front strap of the grip and Their boilerplate EP'ed between the CZ SNs on the frame and slide.

My understanding is that Century just imports the weapons so anything being imported whole is going to be fine, most issues I've heard of stem from imported parts kits that Century outsources the builds on, since these different builders have varying degrees of skill you can get anything from a superb example to a POS may never run right. So whole weapons should be fine and I personally wouldn't risk a parts kit weapon without being able to examine it in person.

fat boy, i have purchased canik sting ray-c (chrome) and the full size grand power mk-7, sting ray-c another copy of the cz compact pistols but for $369 with all the features it offers it cant be beat. as for the mk-7 the prices droped i would seriously think about this one cause its one of those sleepers in this polymer pistol world. gonna update my old post w/mk7 after adjusting the rear sight. some pics of the pistols

I know other people have had horror stories of Century builds, but I've owned 3 'CIA' kit guns and never had a problem. I'd say go for it. Especially if these are imported whole- which I believe CIA also imported my CZ-82, which has been completely fine. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think they also imported my PA-63, which is also fine.

Yeah, that picture is funny, but in a snarky kind of way.

I can't speak for any of their "builds", but I appreciate the stuff they import--especially the brands with great potential (e.g., Canik and Grand Power).

If Century Arms has their name on a gun, chances are its a lower end type gun.
I'm not saying its on the bottom of the totem pole like a Hi-Point but its about mid way on a scale or a little less.

Century is an importer. I just bought a Beretta Vertec 96 through Gunbroker that was imported by Century. It was a foreign police trade in.

Rocky river, we know its a great gun for the price, nobodys cryin here..were all adults. sure it aint no Sig/HK/FN but i will gladly put it up against those top dollar pistols

I've got a Century Arms A1 5.56 that is my favorite AR, works great.

The Mag 98 is a Polish service pistol (prison guards, etc), and is fairly well balanced and accurate - and pretty darn durable.

Good pistol overall, should come with 2 mags (15 round). For IDPA, though, you'll likely find that you want more mags than that, so look into mag availability (yes, you can compete with two mags, but I go with up to 8 mags to save time futzing around with reloading mags when I could be helping out with other things).

The P1 Mk7 is based on a Slovak military pistol. I am looking at that one myself. But, again for IDPA, make sure you can get enough magazines.

Don't know much about the Arcus.

Regarding other comments on Century, I concur that Century is fine as a simple importer of product, but they have churned out some questionably quality stuff over the years when they contracted out to some shops here in the U.S. that built up firearms from parts, or substantially modified the imported version (as in the early Tantal barrel fiasco, the out-of-spec Golani's, bolt gap issues on C93's and so forth). On the other hand, some other Century-built product has been OK.

I know a little. Got one at Fleet Farm a few weeks ago. So far, about 500 rds. through it. Zero issues. The finish is crap, the trigger is average, the ergos are pretty ok, the accuracy is good, and the reliability (granted it's only been 500) is perfect.

It's an all-steel gun. BHP clone. Cheap as heck (about $300new). Fits perfect in a Bianchi thumb-break I had layin around.

ETA: Granted it doesn't prove anything about reliability, but if you shoot is stationary, you could cover your spent casings with a pillowcase. It seems to be doing the exact same thing every time I pull the trigger.

Funny, I own a Ruger Police Service Six in .357, a Swiss-made ITM AT-84, a CZ-75, and a SIG P6, all were imported by Century. So, SIG, Ruger, CZ...well, they are used guns, though some are quite rare.

As far as new guns, Century also imports Zastava pistols, which are excellent guns. They also imported Republic Arms pistols from South Africa. Arcus pistols have had a good reputation, as have others. Remember the HS-2000? It was a real nobody pistol, right? That is, it was until Springfield Armory slapped their name on it, called it the XD, and the rest is history. Many of the pistols Century imports lack an established importation channel, otherwise they'd be better received.

This, for the most part. The Mag 98 is a Polish manufactured pistol, robust and reasonably accurate. No monkey shenanigans from Century on imports like these. I've got a good number of milsurp items that were imported by Century - no complaints (though I've stopped even with Century imports due to the monster-sized billboard import mark they've been putting on their products over the past few years. The old stuff had a tiny mark, simetimes just a little C.A.I imprinted in an unobtrusive area. Not any more, the markings are very much "in your face".

As far as products that Century (re)constructs (i.e. has subcontractors assemble from kits, etc), their track record has been very uneven. I generally won't even look at a Century build.

LOL - same here - two Sig Sauer P6 pistols, imported by Century

as well as several Maks imported by Century, two Luger P.08s imported by Century ... Mosins, Mausers, etc. etc.

Again, as a straight importer, they've done OK (aside from the aforementioned importer stamps, which have grown ridiculously over the years). As an assembler/manufacturer/builder, then caveat emptor ...
