AR panic leaving TX

yay... i need to buy a new rifle to celebrate.. but in light of this past gun-drama, im thinking ill consolidate all of my rifles into the fewest calibers i can, and stock up big on that ammo

I aint bought any firearms in a while, dang sure aint gonna pay the panic prices. in a few months, those overpriced ARs will be for sale when momma is needing Christmas money. I will be there cash in hand and it is gonna be at a bargain price or none at all...I got my AR15s and AR10s etc in my safe. felt sorry for all the panic buyers.

My LGS has some "budget" AR's going for under $1000 now. Once they retur. To normal or a flood of used ones come on the market, I may be ready to buy again.

I don't think this will happen to nearly the extent that some people think.

I believe most of the recent buyers are still going to want what they bought for the same reason they bought it in the first place: They didn't have one and they wanted one. The threat of the government taking a big step in disarming the citizenry isn't going away anytime soon, certainly not this year.

I think most buyers were first time gun owners, first time owners of this type of arm, or true enthusiasts who would rather keep it than take a loss because it was something they wanted anyway and will continue to use/enjoy owning.

You tell them Tex, I guess it will be none at all, they will be kept because of the price paid for them. If you want new, then maybe you can find some at a more reasonable price at Walmart and such.

I was at two lgs today, one GATs had many AR's but only about half of their normal stock of long guns and shotguns and about 2/3s of their stock of handguns, the other was Cabela's and they had no AR's and hardly any handguns, NO ammo and No reloading supplies. It almost looked like they were going out of the gun business and just selling sporting goods, clothing and shooting accessories.

It is good to see prices of new rifles are returning to reasonable levels.

As the prices fall and the new rifle inventories improve, the price of used rifles will fall.

Whether there will be a flood of used rifles on the market, it will depend on many factors. The economy, new gun laws, ammunition supplies, overstretched budgets, and so forth.

well if panic buying is for the most part over, prices coming down, then we'll have the celebratory buying to wait out

Another few weeks to a month for the deals to start cropping up as all those people who panicked will be looking to dump them for anything.

My LGS not only had some [new] in stock this weekend, they were running a sale.

I've seen a bunch of them come back to be sold used at the LGS, along with boxes (cases) of unused ammo that also had to be sold used. When you see boxes of Tul for $8 a pop, you know they only got about $4 (maybe $6) for each box. They only got about 80% of their purchase price back on their ARs too. There will be a period of time where the LGSs will have to stop buying them back as they won't be moving.

Granted I am not talking about everywhere.

I think it was better being a panic seller.

Like others, I just don't see this happening. Didn't happen after the 2008 panic, and isn't likely to happen now. As mentioned, many people bought these things because they wanted one and were afraid that this might be the last chance to get one. Just because the threat is gone doesn't mean that they no longer want what they bought though. Combine that with the fact that they'd be selling it at a huge loss and I doubt many will be letting go of the guns they bought.

Expect retail prices to slowly dwindle back down to roughly pre-panic levels (this has already started), but I wouldn't hold my breath on a fire-sale of used AR's.

The panic buyers that bought severely overpriced AR/AK's will feel the buyer's remorse that's coming to them. Hahaha!

It is highly unlikely that they will resell their guns at a huge discount/loss. In my local firearm ads there are plenty of people selling their AR/AK's for $1500+ when the market values are well under $1k.

As an example, I just bought a Smith and Wesson M&P15 Sport from my LGS for $839 (+tax) two weeks ago, while someone on FloridaGuntrader is selling the same gun for $1200!

My Brother picked up an Olympics Arms AR for 500.00.
When he got there with the cash the repo man was right behind him for the guys truck.

I think we will se a lot more of this if we have another economic bubble burst.

That's CDNN Sports, famous for their low prices. My local Walmart used to sell the Colt LE6920 for $1097 four months ago. It's now listed at $1350. I doubt WM is scalping prices.

Windham Weaponrys were $799, but we haven't seen any for a few months. I wonder what the new price will be when and if they show up.

But there will be.

People are people, and that's never going to change.

And on top of that people know exactly what to do if they want to become the most talked about person in the country...and schools are still, by and large, extremely soft targets.

I am a Rock River owner and was posting regarding some threads i saw. I LOVE my RRA and i thought their quality was better than poor staking of key and nut... I did break the hammer on the 2 stage nmt and RRA fixed it no charge... I have about 2 or 3 hiccups in 2000 rounds, proly 3 but not bad. It is accurate but i ain't but i am getting better. The 2 stage trigger is AWESOME though. The break is SWEET and crisp... My question for anyone that KNOWS, where are RRA barrels made and where do they get their B.C.G.'s? bolt carrier group...

I picked up a D.D. M4 V7 for 1500 OTD. Thats a well made rifle and very accurate.
My LGS has a wall full of AR's now and even some used AR's are comming in. I think you might find some very good deals around Christmas this year.

Local Walmart has Colt 6920 for $1097, same price as before the "panic." Kudos to Walmart.
