Time to turn in the C&R?

I got my C&R FFL a little over a year ago. Haven't bought a single firearm with it, but have used it once (just once) to save a little scratch from Midway.

I'm seriously considering contacting the BATFE and turning over/surrendering my license.

Between today's UN decision and stuff tied up in courthouses and legislatures all over the United States, I just don't need any hassle by a member of the alphabet squad or heartache of one miss-dotted I or uncrossed T could cause. Especially since I'm not really using it.

Anyone else thinking such things - with any level of a FFL (sales, manufacture, or collecting)?

The Brady campaign and others would like nothing more than to realize they've reached the point of so many laws that some people start saying it's not worth it..

I vote hang on to it.

Really??? You just admitted that you haven't even used it yet. Unless you actually buy a C&R firearm with it, there are NO record-keeping requirements at all. Turning it in would be more hassle and potential trouble than just letting it expire in three years.

If you're moving to an EU country, move to England. The gun laws are a bit more restrictive than France's, but with a firearms card, they would actually allow most of your C&R rifles.

Also, they speak a language very similar to ours. Most Americans are able to pick up English in a matter of mere months.

Or, you could just use your C&R here... it's no more paperwork and government hassle than you'd get anywhere else. It may not FEEL like it sometimes, but the U.S. is still one of the freest countries on earth.

I was late renewing my C&R a while back so I had to apply for a new one. All those guns I bought on the old license are in a bound book I don't have to keep. :neener:

I haven't bought anything on the new license. But I have one just in case a real deal comes along. I'm sure I do better than break even considering the Brownells discount.

I don't have a C&R because it would literally cause me to go broke. That doesn't appear to be an issue for you since you haven't even really used it yet. I say keep it and maybe you will find that it comes in handy eventually.

Keep it at least for the discounts on parts/accessories as well as the unexpected opportunities at gun shows, etc.

I think I used mine 11 times in 3 years for firearms. Saved me nearly $400 in transfer fees.

The UN decision? Really? I thought most of us were past that consipiracy and had moved on to another.if you gave it up I wouldn't blame you a bit. But don't let the UN decision, whatever that means, influence your decision.

As to the question, everytime my 01 comes up for renewal, I consider letting it go............I just mailed out the latest renewal along with a check this evening as a matter of fact

I've never used my C&R. I've bought numerous c&r guns since I've had it but always from local shops cheaper than anywhere online.

Oh, yes....If you don't make any waves, maybe they'll just overlook you while they pursue those of us who speak up for our rights :scrutiny:

Now is NOT the time to be quiet. I've held a C&R for years, am on the NFA list, and I've never made my profile higher than now. I am very vocal about my dislike/distrust of the current administration and my state government, and about the fact that I absolutely will not register (other than NFA) or surrender anything.

Time to turn in the C&R?
