HiViz Shooting Systems Leaving Colorado.

Just more ammo for the 2014 election.

I buy, use and very happy with HiViz products, glad to see them leaving the state invaded by California liberals.

At the rate things are going, the state is going to find itself with > $1B deficit by next year. Good. This will be a black streak on the Democrats for many years to come.

That makes two companies leaving Colorado! I really wish that some of the industry giants would do the same thing! I am sure S&W and others generate millions in taxes and that is a lot of lost revenue.

I just sent Ruger a letter asking what they will do. Seems only Rugers corporate HQ is in CT and the rest of the operations are in NH and AZ so it shouldn't be that hard to relocate.

Sturm Ruger is incorporated in CT., which is the only reason they retain a small office there. To change would be expensive in terms of legal fees, and what the state gets in revenue from that small operation is peanuts compared to what they lost in jobs and money when the company moved out their manufacturing plants.

It would seem that the loss of jobs and tax revenue doesn't concern the legislators currently in power. If those that live in the various "blue states" don't like it they can express they're feelings in the next round of elections.

Otherwise they are best viewed in a rear-view mirror.

This is part of an email I got from my state senator today (Matt Jones)

Jobs - We need to help Coloradans get jobs and help the economy recover. This includes local energy conservation and renewable energy jobs. I am sponsoring a bill to set up a voluntary program to provide small businesses access to money to pay for these clean energy improvements. The bill expands the "Climate Smart" type program used in Boulder County into a statewide program. These types of programs are called "Property-Assessed Clean Energy" (PACE). SB 212 helps create local construction jobs that can't be outsourced, reduces a business's energy costs and reduces pollution.

The "Keep Jobs in Colorado" bill will be introduced soon. This will help put Coloradans back to work by ensuring that we are prioritizing Colorado tax dollars by hiring Coloradans for public work project and restricting outsourcing jobs overseas. This bill also mandates the disclosure of where steel and other materials that are being used for state projects were made.

Note he did not even mention the gun control bills he voted for in his "Look what we've done this year" message.

I have to agree with Old Fuff and MErl, in that I do not believe leftest legislators care about lost jobs and lost tax revenue At ALL when it comes to the opportunity for more gun control legislation. Beyond insuring the growth of entitlements, their #2 priority does seem to be to restrict access to firearms of any type, in any way possible. I believe, and they obviously believe, that the majority of voters will support their efforts to rid society of the "Gun Culture" and they will easily be re-elected. I hope they are wrong. If/when they are re-elected though, and there is a future opportunity for restrictive legislation as in New York and Colorado, they will strongly, and probably successfully support that. In future, given an opportunity provided by another mad man or whatever, those same legislators in Colorado and New York, for instance, will support and probably pass even more draconian anti gun laws. A two round limit, .22LR or black powder only allowed, or who knows what they will come up with? Old Fuff may be aware of a legislator here in Arizona who attempted to attach 18 gun control ammendments to a bill here within the last few days. Most people, even gun owners, are not passionate about defense of the 2A. For example,we had neighbors over for Easter dinner. He is a gun owner, but made a comment about "those guns we don't need" i.e., AR type rifles...

Ruger also started in Southport, CT in 1949. Not everyone sees cutting and running as the best course of action. Many believe standing-up and fighting is the right and honorable thing to do.

Ruger has more than a "small office" in Southport. All of their gov't sales moves through that facility for example. I believe Ruger is Incorporated in the state of Delaware as are many US companies due to Delaware's incorporation laws.

There's only like....what? Maybe 10 employees at most who work at Hi-Viz? Their products are probably manufactured in China. I doubt Colorado is going to care.

Beretta owns Burris Optics, it's doubtful the Italian company will spend money for a move when this product isn't involved in the political squabbles.

I believe the manufacturing has already been moved out of Colorado in the case of Burris. We did maintenance and repair work on the chillers of a company that did the anodizing for the scope tubes when Burris did their manufacturing in Greeley, but they closed up several years ago. The word from the owner was that the manufacturing was going overseas.

We need the major players to make a real statement.

Magpul & HiViz both bailing out of Colorado; now Beretta has announced plans to leave Maryland...and yet, the politicians in those states STILL don't get it.

Maybe if Kimber, Remington and others left NY state......

Magpul leaving, they don't speak to that, but they do hype how they poached a financial services company from NY.

I applaud companies for doing this but it really does not matter to the state.

You are right of course, what we see is a case of know-it-all ideology being the most important (and maybe only) consideration. But as time passes and the economic consequences become more noticeable with the 2014 election looming ahead, some of them will have reason to worry - but by then it will be too late.

It WILL matter. All of these pro-gun companies need to relocate.
