I wanted to keep reloading for my Garand VERY simple so I've been shopping for IMR4895 (Absolutely no luck).

If I do find some can I also use it for my Colt LE6920?

If not, I need to find one or two rifle powders that will work for .223, 243, 270, 308, AR & Garand.

I'm not going to be a match reloader - just looking for one or two "good all around" rifle powders, one for Garand & one for everything else.

I am using a Dillon 550B for the .223 and a Single Stage with RCBS Chargemaster Combo for everything else.

I prefer H4895 for my Garand loads, but will use IMR4895 if i cannot find H4895.

There are other powders that will work fine for the Garand. Many of the powders suitable for the Garand will work in the other cartridges you listed but the reverse is not necessary true.

If you have Hornady's book, check the Garand section.

Also, go the Master Po's web page, there are lots of reloading data for Garands that will list alternate powders.

Ouch.

I would say 748, except it doesn't do well with the .243 or 270. I use it for the others.

Of the powders that I know (have worked with) BLC2 or (for me a last resort) Varget. I think either of the 4895s, H or IMR would be your best option and I favor the H4895 flavor.

This doesn't mean that there aren't many other good options. To me the killer is the increase in burn time for optimal use with the 243 & 270 and the need to maintain the same timing grouping for the Garand.

Good luck in your search for powder/s.

Load safely,

Don't have Hornady's book. Do you have link on Master Po?

Well it sounds like "Keep it simple" for Garand means IMR 4895 or H4895 (and yes I know they are different)

Is there a good "do all" powder for the rest (.223 that meters well in Dillon550B, 243, 270, 308 Bolt & 30-06 Bolt)

Or, am I stuck with 3 powders?

A powder for 308 & 30-06 Garands (IMR or H 4895)
A good powder for metering through Dillon 550b for .223
A good all around powder for Bolt Actions

IMR4895 is the only powder I use in my Garand. I also use it with very good results in .270, 25-06 and my AR15 .223/5.56. I can get a little better consistency with TAC in the .223 but unless needing to drive tacks, the 4895 works great.

I load almost all my rifle rounds using a Dillon 650XL and metering is acceptable.

I do have a few extra pounds of it that I could let go, but I don't know about mailing or shipping powder.

I have had good luck with Ramshot TAC in both .30-06 for Garand and .223. TAC is listed right next to H4895 on the burn rate chart at http://www.reloadbench.com/burn.html

Good luck finding any. I found a good supply of IMR4064 at the local Cabelas this week. I will be giving that a go in my Garand in the near future. I installed an adjustable gas plug so it should be safe enough with moderate loads.

There are many good powders for loading M1 Garand ammo without bending the Op-Rod. Below I will list some but they are by no means the only suitable powders.

IMR4895, IMR4064
H4895, BL-C(2), Varget
AA2460, AA2495, AA2520
RL-12, RL-15
TAC

The powder I use most is H4895 and the powders I prefer to use are H4985, IMR4895, AA2495 and AA2520. All 4 are close in burn rate range and all 4 are accurate for me. You should use only powder with a burn rate between and including IMR3031 and IMR4320 according to most sources.
