Mouse pistol build

No need for fancy tools or anything, plain old plastic toycaps intended for children(see Pic). The small caps generate enough flame and pressure to ignite the blackpowder.
They are a tad smaller than regular caps and needs a smaller nipple, I made my own but I guess a no10 nipple will also work.

I tried those caps on my 1849 Wells Fargo clone and only got 3 of 5 cylinders to ignite, went back to PC's.:banghead:

@Robhof,
How did the plastic caps fit on your nipples? I made a new nipple especially for the plastic caps since they are smaller, actually I haven't had one misfire.

I have a .22 cal. breech loading BP firearm made by Rocky Mountain Arms as a youth gun long ago...late '60's, early '70's? Lew Horton's had a pallet of them on sale for $20 & I only bought one:banghead: It also uses toy caps for ignition...and #4 buck for a projectile. Fun little gun.

Wayward Son,

I got to shoot one of those back in the 70's and really liked it. I have looked for one since with no luck and found few folks that knew about them. They also made one in .45 that IIRC used round ball intended for C&B revolvers. I seem to recall that besides BP the small ones could be fired with a small charge of Bullseye smokeless.

The owner of the one I shot learned the importance of keeping them clean when the turret/breech rusted into position, sadly.

How about posting some pictures?

Carry on....

The only problem I've run into with the toy caps is that they're corrosive.
If you use them for dry fire practice, you have to clean the gun the same as if you shot it with BP.
