The Students For Concealed Carry is doing its annual empty holster protest Nationwide this week.

Here at the University of Florida, we are in full swing.

Here is one of the new banners we hung out by the Student Union courtyard where thousands of students pass by daily. It will be hanging for a week.

Here is a link to the local NPR affiliate covering our protest, and has a picture of the other sign by the Student Union this week also.

UPDATE for those of you that might remember, i posted a poll firemission a little while back that we slammed, showing about 84% were for guns on campus.

I thought that would kill all references to use of the poll, but i was shocked to see that the NPR article actually quoted the poll, saying that over 84% of students were for guns on Campus. HAHA awesome job guys.

That's fantastic, keep up the good fight! It's Americans like us that are our front lines for freedom right now.

Keep up the good work and stick a 30 rd mag in that empty holster for good measure.

Holsters stay empty of anything. It's so no one mistakes it for a gun and we get into a terrible situation of campus police having to respond to a "man with a gun" call. We also are very aware of not letting a shirt go over our holster or anything else. They're clearly empty.

I'm the guy in the WUFT article BTW. The VP Billy got interviewed and should be on tonight's news cast.

I was interviewed by CBS, WSBTV, and Georgia Public Broadcasting at Georgia Tech two days ago. I'm really looking forward to being president of the Tech chapter this fall!

So far we've been VERY well received on campus.

Both I and one of the commenters on the WUFT article noticed an omission in it.

From the article:

To obtain a concealed weapons license in Florida, applicants must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check, mail in a fingerprint card and submit an application and fee.

So, without checking the comments, what's missing?

I am the commentator and the person being quoted in the article... so I know the answer.

I may have omitted that when she interviewed me but I'm pretty sure I didn't. More likely an amalgam of what I said and something they were reading as I don't think I mentioned the fee, just that those where things you had to do/get before applying.

Oh hey man! You nailed those interviews btw. Well done!
