Price data from Academy

So I showed up at 6am and waited 2 hours for the store to open. Was worth the wait.

Bulk 1,000round boxes of UMC 9mm for $239.99. I bought.

Winchester M-22 1,000 rounds for $45.99. I bought.

Winchester 100 rd value pack of 230gr ACP $45.99

Monarch 45acp 230 grain $18.99

Nato 124gr 9mm 50 rd box for $15.99

I'm out here in El Paso which is a long trip to make if you are coming from Austin.


It was good to finally see some ammo for a change. Over the last two weeks there was less and less ammo showing up. Today was one of the best days for 9mm in over 4 months. They got 6 of fhe 1,000 round bulk boxes of UMC 9MM, 12 of the 250 round boxes and a couple of cases of the NATO 124gr 9mm.

Of course there has been zero 38 special or 357 magnum delivered and who knows if it will ever show up. The bulk 223 we were seeing has dried up and of course 22lr has been hit or miss,mostly miss, these last 4 months. As usual the ammo disappears within 30-60 minutes of the store opening.

I'm just happy to get what I can. I can't wait to order in case lots again. I'd rather the Fedex or UPS guy bring it to my door. I'm getting lazy in my old age.

Shields? I can tell you that there is a huge pent up demand for those Shields out here. Everyone is looking for them.

I could help you out but they wont let me buy more than 1 box per caliber with a 3 caliber max.

No worries, I'm pretty well set. I make stops at local places whenever I'm out and about. Academy is the only place that gets any ammo (I don't go near Walmart). El Paso seems to get most of the shipments in West Texas.

Well its the only place in West Texas with an Academy. We are supposed to get a Dicks but I would rather have a Cabelas instead.

One of the problems we face here are the sparodic deliverys. Sometimes no ammo at all comes in then there are those rare days you start to think things are getting better because they got 9mm,40,45,223,556 and 22lr. It varies. Ammo such as 357 mag and 38 special never shows up. Same for 44mag. Yea they have a lot of PD ammo but its not moving. They did get one case of 45lc and Blazer aluminum 10mm so far this year but thats it for those 2 calibers. I will say that 22lr has been the one caliber we get the most of except for 308. Twenty one people got a bulk box of 22lr on Monday. Well I better hit the road or I'll be so far back in line the chances are nothing will be left to purchase.
