Feinstein (AKA the Cript Keeper) just had her bill blow up in her face.

Guess we will see another temper tantrum from the POTUS. His unbridled rage was not only disgusting, but demeaning to the office. At least some elected officials are listening to the people and taking their oath to the Constitution seriously.

Am I the only one concerned she got 40 votes! Closer than I would have liked. Time to unseat some Senators.

I know we now have a handful of states that passed a lot of these silly laws- but with this victory, they just overplayed their hand. They gave us a nice, succinct list of who showed their true colors. You bet I'm bringing my notepad of names to the polls.

Hardtarget:
Your comment about the radical antis': 'their heads explode', reminds me of the invaders' heads in "Mars Attacks".
Irrational pinheads never cease to baffle me.

If future bills can somehow fail with a decent margin as this one did, combined with the coming "trainwreck of ObamaCare", (Democratic Sen. Max Baucus' general words:D Today to Secretary Sebelius), imagine King Obama's potential legacy.

Fishslayer: Somebody on Their side who is more respected than Biden is bound to make a slip when the microphones are left on in the next few days. Let's hope that their true agendas will be better revealed to the public.
But that would require that the mainstream media all consist of professional journalists and impartial investigators.

So, just as I predicted, there will be no confiscation. Just like I predicted, Obama is acting all outraged over it. I also predicted that he would use an Executive Order, Eric Holder, the ATF, or some other underhanded method to further encroach on our rights. I stand by that prediction.

Probably right. What does that mean, when a president tells Congress to do something, they don't do it, and he does it without them. Is there any more blatant way to tell the country you don't care about the law and the constitution? You people didn't vote the way I told you to, so I'm taking your crayons away. Am I looking at this wrong?

it is hard for them to do what they want on a federal level so I think they will do it state by state and the state anti gun laws are much worse then a federal one would be

I watched that useless piece of horse excrement "Pierce Morgan" for the first time last night.

He's not so bad :) he just whines a lot.

You have not seen Piers Morgan at full tilt boogie; I have read the transcripts of the appearance for John Lott (who was not allowed to finish a sentence) and Michael Moore (who was treated as the source of all political correctness in the universe).

BTW How many of the 40 voted just to have political cover with political leaders or constituents who favored gun control?

I find controlling 80 million legal gun owners to affect 400 thousand gun criminals so insane (who is going to obey the law, the lawabiding or the criminal?), that I think support is purely political and not pragmatic.

The AWB was sunset 2004, they could not get votes to either extend or make it permanent, the National Academy of Sciences 2004 "Firearms and Violence: A Critical Review" could find no emprical evidence that it worked; how could anyone support it, other than true believers, or people locked into an irrational political ideology?

Remember, the president already did his executive order thing. Try as he and his team did, they found (as some here had pointed out) that the things he can lawfully, sustainably, do under his Constitutional powers are extremely limited, and NO, he could/did not just ignore the Constitution and make up his own rules! Out of an e.o. Of 19 or 20 points, not one was even a pebble in our shoe.

What ever nastiness he still may be able to enact will be small irritants about ATF reporting requirements and such. If he even has the will to waste more time on this issue. He put on a good show for his base, the nasty gun lobby shot it down, he doesn't lose face so move along. Next fight, next topic...

They tried executive order as posted and the law stopped them. Having been told no for the first time in his presidency I look for him to say to hell with the law, he has in everything else. He will allow the ATF to run wild without regard to the law. Sure there will be lawsuits as a result but they take time and money. The president is a man drunk on power and dangerous.

Harry Ried and others vow to return. POTUS says the NRA lied; I think that's rich coming from either of them. We need to make sure they do not try and sneek a bill on to another like the budget.

You may well be right about the EO, but I don't think he's done yet. He's so adamant about it, and has been so unethical in his pursuit, that I still expect something really nasty. He knew that there weren't enough votes. His "outrage" over the bill failing was as fake as that single tear in his first speech of the Dead Children Exploitation Tour. I don't know what or how, but he's going to try something more.

The President is outraged. We are as well. We will meet again, until his anti American agenda is squashed, and he sheds some real tears over his failure to turn this country into his delusion of socialist utopia.

Next move.

Hopefully, she blew any remaining political capital she had left on this. Perhaps, Capitol Hill now views her constituents, and any representatives of them, as being far out of line from the rest of the country.

I'm hoping for that because when Feinstein leaves, the Bay Area will ship out Feinstein 2.0, new but not improved.

Given the composition of California's population, no person who understands the world we actually live in could ever make it to national office from that state.

Why the Cript Keeper, he brought great horror stories to my home once a week? I loved that show. How about the opposite of her name? Fein=Fine in german (from what I can remember) and a stein is a beautiful mug that you drink delicious beer from. I say call her Ugly Cup. If you want to get fancy you can call her Grotesque Receptacle, that is more fitting!

mastiffhound:
Some call her Frankenstein, but as Franken (Franconia) is northern Bavaria, maybe we should call Senator Dianne Schreckenstein: Terror stone. She wants to stomp on/ brutalize any part(s) of the US Constitution in order to increase her personal power before she fades into the overtaxed CA sunset.

But let's never underestimate our enemies. Those who do, often lose.
Complacency from now on will lead to bad, permanent consequences.
