Very true, as long as it is a virgin lower never having been built into a rifle before.

I was unaware that S&W sold stripped lowers from the factory, but it is very possible they do.

Thank you, I didn't know they did. I've seen uppers on their website, but i didn't know they sold stripped lowers.

Guess I learn something new every day!

CmdrSlandr ..... So Far so good on the NCStar! I really like it

I think the illumination is a little too bright sometimes, and actually picked one up recently at a gun show like mine and looked through it and it was not as bright.

I mentioned it to the seller that mine was brighter and He said send it back to NCstar if not happy for any reason, they warranty there products and make it right.

Im not sure it is a true problem tho? I figured being on display the one I picked up had batteries that were getting weak?

From There Website:

All NcSTAR Optics (rifle scopes, pistol scopes, spotting scopes,
Binoculars, monoculars, and red dot sights) are covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Erik do you have that registered as a SBR?

As far as I know S&W never made any ar15 pistols (but perhaps I am wrong), and just taking the stock off the buffer tube doesn't count.

I'm sorry if you already know this, but I thought i should point it out.
If it was purchased as a new receiver (new, complete receivers are not rifles, but rather "firearm" as described by law) and registered at purchase as "receiver/other" (which is why you are required to be at least 21 to purchase), it can be built into a pistol. Building with a stock that makes it useable from the shoulder with a pistol upper makes it an SBR. I'd ditch the stock it may have had on it, but it is perfectly legal, as the upper it is built with in concert with the lower designates a rifle (16" bbl minimum, with an overall minimum length of 26", and be designed to fire from the shoulder), or a pistol accordingly with its definition in mind. As stated, best to not have a lonely stock just laying around.

Since the buffer tube is not a stock, and the ATF has indeed made it clear that it is necessary for the function of an AR15-style firearm, there is nothing unlawful nor defined as such regarding WHAT buffer tube is employed. Having the correct number of "stocks" on rifles in your ownership as defined by the ATF does not constitute the mythical "constructive intent" we hear of. AR15.com has tons of info and ATF correspondence on the matter.

If those guidelines are followed, then yes, it does indeed "count"

It's suppose to have zz in it. I don't know why it did that. He has matched billet sets for 350. He has a ton of ploymer but lots of aluminum also. Stag and bushmaster mostly

Guess I should update the list. The other day a Colt SP1 came along at a very good price. Just something I was looking for if one came along so when it did I grabbed it.

Yep, I was sure to get good pics of it stripped as delivered from Bud's. $136 felt high for a lower, was over their lay-away level at the time. Now, aside from 'blemished' Aero Precisions, that's a great price. Funny how that works. ;)

Current pic with new optics:

I have a better forward mount coming, the one that was under the BSA el cheapo red dot has the EOTech sitting too high and is also too wide to allow the EOTech to mount.

I have an ATF letter in the range bag (Wilson racket bag) that clarifies all of the ATF decisions behind everything on the build, from the lower never having had a Rifle upper on it to why the cane tip on the end of the carbine buffer tube is good to go. In fact, with the 18.25" barrel (14.5" with an extra-long AK-style brake welded to it) I could legally put a vertical grip on it. I won't, but I could. ;)
