Anyone know how to sell on gunbroker

I have an account I just set up, but did not have to go thru that. Nor did they ask for it, I did have to provide a credit card to verify my info and for the fee's associated with anything I sell. I've sold 2 guns on there without any issues, worked well for me. If you've got any specific questions shoot me a pm.

I added a credit card and they charged $1 to it a day later I guess to verify it. I haven't tried to sell anything on there yet, but I'd imagine you'd need an FFL to deal the related items, and would hopefully wouldn't for things like cleaning supplies, etc. Any other sellers that could chip in, I'd like to know more too.

I joined up five or six years ago, and they did not have those requirements back then.

I guess that, like anything, as more people join, a bunch of scammers get into the game and screw it up for everyone.

I have not bought or sold anything on GB for quite a while, although my membership is still valid (I go, sign in, and window-shop from time to time).

Maybe if I try to buy something, I will have to comply with all the new rules.

We'll burn that bridge when we get to it. In the mean time, sorry to hear that about GB, but not really surprised.

From the home page on GB, go to HELP upper middle of page!

click that and then on the right side of that page
click How To Sell

There it will walk you through it... there is also a video (basic training)

And it is reputable! Here is screen shot of How to sell page:

And the information they ask for is to verify we are who we say we are. Protects buyer and seller.
Just make sure you are dealing with Gunbroker and not being hacked. This is why the tutorials will help.

Thanks for the heads up. I have some extra ammo on consignment in a local gun shop. If it doesn't sell there, I'll give it a go perhaps on gunbroker if you have a good experience. Subscribed to this thread!

Your account was flagged for some reason. Did you use a free email service to register your account with such as yahoo or hotmail. The requested info is to try to prevent fraudulent accounts.

Been using gunbroker for years for both buying and selling....125 transactions now, all have been great.

Probably the free email account did it. The dollar is a credit on your account and can be taken as a credit against their fee the first time you sell something.

Jusy as an FYI, you can buy and sell ammo without a FFL, and you can sell firearms without an FFL too but you may need a FFL to ship out of state for you, depends on your state laws. Shipping ammo cannot be by mail, but either UPS or Fedex ground service is fine. Search "shipping ammo" on this forum and you should find plenty of info on how to pack, mark the carton, and where to take it to ship it. Good luck.

Their communication blows but I still use them to sell aftermarket stuff, mags, etc. No guns yet.

Good luck with Gunbroker. They charged me a dollar or two, then flagged me as suspicious, then opened my account. Then after using the site with no problems they randomly charged me $13.40 and they refuse to respond with a reason why.

I'm becoming less of a fan of dealing with them.

Be sure to check the STATE LAWS where you live. As I understand it, certain states may prohibit the sale of ammunition by individuals.

But then I live in Illinois, so I have been dealing with restrictive firearm laws since 1968.

Thanks for the heads up. I've spent some time in FOID land as well. I'll look into my state and local laws before listing any ammo online. Gotta give the LGS a call on Monday and see if any of my consignment items have been moving or not...

I've bought and sold for years on GB, and have been very pleased with the transactions.....I believe the dual rating system for buyers and sellers keeps things straight.

You can sell and ship guns on GB, they'll just have to be shipped to the buyers FFL in most cases. There's also the possibility of face to face transactions in some states, depending on local laws.

As a non-FFL holder, you'll need to include a photocopy of your drivers license. If you're selling, I'd also put a note in the ad, something like: " I'm not an FFL holder, so if your FFL will not accept shipments from non-FFL's, please do not bid."

AFT rules do NOT require that you ship a firearm FROM an FFL, but some dealers on their own require it.

Your best bet would be to spend some quality time reading the online ATF rules for buying/selling/shipping/transferring firearmns....just google it....not hard to find.

Fortunately I've never had to use GB's "support" because I agree, it's NOT user friendly.

I am an active seller with about 700 feedbacks. That "random" charge is probably your monthly bill for using their service. When you list an item, there is a small listing fee. If you choose additional features in your listing like bold print or their showcase feature, it costs to use. If you use the 2nd description box, there is another fee. If you use a counter or thumbnail picture, there is another fee, etc. Listing an ad can cost from $0.25 to $5 or more. If you actually sell your item, there is a final sale fee like 1% of the sale price. Once a month they send an invoice and perhaps a week later they charge your credit card on file. It's how they make their money. It is not a free service.
