A good sign of things loosening up

hopefully...its good they have that many but that price is not much cheaper than ive been paying throughout this thing (12.99)...i did see 10 wwb .45 100rd value packs at wally today..and this was 11:30am..they also had some .40s and.45 hydra shock looking boxes, quite a few...my LGS has had plenty of ammo throughout for some reason (if u wanna pay) but a wk or so ago i saw .223 100rd federal value packs (i think federal) for the first time in awhile and they had ALOT. Cashier told me it has moved past a trickle-ammo coming in

Was at Walmart last night, several dozen boxes of Tulammo 7.62x39 and 3 boxes left(2 days after stocking according to the cashier) of .223. I believe it was Remington for $12 per box.

Also had a few boxes of .380, a box of 50 9mm, several boxes of the non panic calibers, and 8 or 10 boxes of .308.

No .22 at all. But this is a good sign, seeing as how all that's been on the shelf out there lately has been 7mag and .243, and .30-06

Reminds me of the sig quote someone has about .30-06 being on the shelves during this panic because people that shoot .30-06 don't panic

Scored a case of "Independence" XM193 5.56 Nato for $8.97/box at Walmart. It is Israeli made in 2013 with an FC headstamp (Federal).

I will keep watching for this stuff to show up on their shelves...

There were normal quantities of numerous ammo types at last weekend's Memphis gun show.
Maybe two people paying the very high prices.

If somehow .22 commands the only high prices by mid-summer, then it will also Have to come down after that.
Once other ammo types are much more affordable, a huge number of people won't Need to shoot .22 as an alternative, because they will have their preferred ammo, and can later stock up some extra .22 at 'normal' prices.

Price deflation will start to happen once the masses digest the voting results in the US Senate.

I started getting hopeful when I saw a colt AR at walmart for $1097.

Father went into town today to Walmart and picked up a box of Remington 9mm. 40 and 45. All priced around 20-22 bucks a box. He said they had several boxes. So maybe just maybe supply is catching up a bit....

My local walmart has been getting shipments of 223/556 daily, but you have to get there in the morning and beat out about 20 other guys. There's ammo to be had out there, you just have to know when it is coming in. Supplies at my LGS and big box stores have been improving. I think we may have turned a corner. Even some of the gunbroker scalpers have dropped their prices.

I might start to believe the "scare" is over when I begin seeing P-Mags get passed by as they hang on the hooks at Cabela's.

....or when stripped AR lowers get below $150 again.


Either will be a welcome sign.

Seeing pmags back in stock again would be a welcome sign. I haven't been able to find one cheaper than $30 online for a 10 round AR15 unit. That's crazy when you factor in the seller wanted another $15 for shipping. I want some more, but not at that price. We all have to keep holding out a bit longer and not give in to scalpers.

i ckd for new ammo this am (22 hrs later) and they STILL had 4 boxes of those wwb 45s left..very good sign..some 40s still left too..also went to another walmart this morning-and this is the one where everyone lines up everyday- and by the time i got there, i was still able to score .223s -tulammo- they also 40s and 45s in the wwb..they were about to be gone tho because a mob was lining up behind me

Think i know why wal-mart hasnt had ammo on shelf. Down in bryan/cs for grand daughters bd. Went to ww, strolled by ammo. Signs everywhere saying 3 box limit. Man at counter buying 2 cases of tul 223. Looked behind counter. Couple more cases. Nonne in ammo case..

ive been able to get 7.62x39mm ammo, .38 spl, 9mm, 45acp et cetera...all the while the hoopla has been going on, but no .22lr.

when i can go to wal-mart or the LGS and buy a brick of .22lr every other week i will say things have taken a turn for the better.

this is true..i admit i was adding to the problem..ive been slipping the wm guy 5$ per box for him to hold ammo for me and sell me more than limit..my wife made me quit buying ammo for awhile so im no longer doing it anymore

Saw some Pro Mag's at the Wichita Cabella's yesterday, they have a pretty good supply of 7.62x39, and have had for some time, and even a few boxes of high end .223. sadly no pistol ammo unless you want Russian 7.62 Nagant.

How ever at the gun show yesterday, I saw both a good supply of P-Mags and other AR mags at prices as low as $12.95.
There was also a pretty good supply of .223 and 7.62x39 ammunition at reasonable prices. I bought 500 rounds of 223 at $.46 cents a round. The first ammo I have bought since the six bricks of .22 LR I bought as Christmas presents for my nephews the day before the New Town shooting.

I almost forgot, I did see some striped AR lowers for about $159!

Perhaps the ammunition shortage is becoming to an end, I hope so, as I am getting short on .22 LR, and was getting short on .223.

I have seen ammo (and primers and powder) come in stock as well. But it doesn't last long. I find it hard to believe a store actually getting a shipment means things are getting better.

One of the places I pick up stuff actually said many of their distributors said to expect zero shipments by the end of summer.

My Wal Mart is still stripped clean, LGS has stock, but insanely priced.

When the number of these threads out number the "gouging" threads I'll believe things have returned to normal. I've been reading claims of "return" since early Feb.

Things in Southern Florida R not getting any better. Semi auto guns r had to find and ammo is impossible to find. Internet places have no ammo neither.

Went to a gun show yesterday and while pricing was way high on ammo, the overall crowd had died down from the peak scare back a few months ago. While the show promoter might not benefit from the record-breaking admittance fee numbers, it was nice to be able to walk around and look at stuff.

Walking by exorbitant pricing is probably the best thing we can do right now to help calm the storm. If gougers won't make these crazy profits, there's less reason for them to, GOUGE us. They'll stop buying up ammo which will leave more for the enthusiasts. My .02
