you are not shooting? We all should start a fund to use later to purchase and stock up on ammo and reloading components for the future. Seize this opportunity to be prepared and SAVE some money not being spent!

I'm not spending any money on factory ammo right now unless I happen to stop in Walmart and get a good deal on something that happens to be in stock. I refuse to hand over my cash to scalpers. Slowly, but surely, you'll build up your supply. Sadly, it has meant minimal range time, but I rather have a good stock on hand just in case than put lead downrange for no particular purpose. I'm going to start reloading as soon as all my backordered component goods come in.

I'm not spending anything. Luckily I had a decent stash before this all started. I am getting low on 9mm and .270 but the .270 is easy to find and hasn't gone up in price.

Buying a couple .22's to play with was the best decision I've ever made in relation to firearms. I'd managed to scoop up about 7k rounds right before SHTF.

My stash is well built up so I haven't had to fork over any money to scalpers. By my estimate I have enough supplies to shoot through the summer before I need to start buying again. So hopefully things free up in the next couple months. The gougers and the hoarders have to run out of money and credit eventually.

+1

Kids want to go, we go when we can get away.

I'm talking about making a plan to save the money we are not spending right now so as to have a nest egg available later when prices are down, to stock up then and be better prepared for the next shortage. Thought I'd bring it up as a recommendation. No reason to be unprepared twice, or three times, or.................

I just ordered a couple cases from Ultramax so I could get into the que. It was through LEO pricing, but it seemed like decent prices and I don't get billed until it ships (whenever that will be, I'm planning on a long wait).

I get what you're saying though. I guess in a sense that's what I've done, just with more guarantee of getting what I want. Once or twice a year I spend between $200-350 to order what I think I will need. That has worked out pretty well for me. Especially since right now my range trips have been short and spent fewer rounds. I'm getting the itch to take the kids out for a range day soon though, so are they:)

Normally I just "see good deal buy good deal" when things are good. Never spent beyond my means and built up a pretty good nest egg. I'm just going back to that, in the mean time with the money I've saved on ammo, I've snatched up a couple good deals on guns I've wanted.

and now I'm out of .270

I think you should be calculating the replacement cost.

When I shoot a box of Wolf Match Target .22 LR do I figure the $1.50 it cost me in '04 or the $13.99 it's selling for now? I feel like I'm shooting up a lot of money.

I just received a 500 rounds of Fiocchi 9mm 124grn from Midway via UPS. Including delivery and my NRA Roundup donation, it came to exactly $17 per box. Ordered it when it was in stock a week ago. Basically, you just have to keep your eyes open and if you do pay a bit more, make sure it isn't scalper crazy like $1 per round for 223, 9mm, etc. I was in my LGS the other day and some scalper has 22LR on consignment for $40 for 100 rounds. Get the heck out of here! Can't wait till all my reloading supplies that are on backorder arrive. :)
