Went to walmart and Dicks at 5:30 pm and wmart still had 7.62x39 and 357 left. Dicks had .22 and 223s (expensive at dicks)

Yes, getting better. I share the same opinion and my opinion is also based on boxes sitting on real-life shelves. Gunbot is a joke.

One delivery does not end a crises.
I have to disagree (granted, it is based on personal experience). Walmart shelves have been getting emptier. It used to be that they had several rifle calibers still in stock. Now when I go, the shelves are bare except for shotgun ammo. And .22 LR prices seem to have increased on gunbroker over the past month. I was able to find it for $.10/rd about a month ago. Now it seems to be higher than that.

yea...seems to be getting worse here. The only place in town to really buy any ammo is a local Walmart...a month ago I could go in at 7:00am (when they put out their stock every morning) and there might be 4 or 5 of us standing around to see what they got. The last couple times I've been there are like 14-15 guys standing around...we all kind of gotten to know each other at this point lol. Usually somebody brings in Krispy Kreme doughnuts and we all stand around shooting the breeze...it's kind of ridiculous. Not to mention, it seems there are more and more days where no ammo shows up...or it's a random box of shotgun ammo.
Prices are up around here but I can still find ammo for all I need. Granted most of it is priced so high I am not really in a buying mood. I havent been shooting in a bit because it costs so much to resupply and I like having ammo on hand.

And when did it go from a consumer driven buying bubble to an outright crisis? Weren't you just buying ammo last week for reasonable prices? a crisis to me is when NOBODY can get ANY amount of ammo at ANY price.

Reasonable is a fluid term and totally dependent on ones prespective and yes I wss buying ammo at what I felt were reasonable as late as this past Monday.
Its a crises when I have to arrive 2 hours before the store opens in hopes that I will be able to have first pick at what little ammo does show up. Just like this past Monday when after arriving at 6am I find myself third in line which meant I had the option to buy a 1600 round can of CCI mini mags as they recieved 3 that Monday.
Its a crises when the only ammo available is Tula 7.62x39 and Monarch 9mm.
Its a crises when you don't see 40s&w,38special,45acp,357mag and other calibers at all.
Its a crises when you can only shoot 2 out of the 24 matches you normally would have shot since the first of the year and of those 2 matches you quit halfway through to conserve your ammo.
Its a crises when you start thinking about giving up shooting all together.
I can't get the ammo I need for practice. I can't get the ammo I need for matches. So yea its a crises from my perspective.
BTW explain how the manufactures who claim to be running at full capacity yet the distributors claim they have no ammo. So where is the ammo going? Who is doing it? Five months in and people still have access to cases ammo to sell on auction sites while the rest of us are scrambling for a few boxes of ammo. How? Every dealer I know of limits ammo purchases to a few boxes. There is another straw in the drink.

since all this started i really havent bothered to even try to get ammo.. (i just stopped shooting)
this morning i received an email from luckygunner and figured, well lets look..
cheepest was 9mm 800 rounds for $600.. most were over a buck a round and no 38 spec, 45, and the rest.... sheesh.. its gotten worse i think.. their stock consisted of a few random bulk types offers..

If you check Gunbot many times a day, you can find "cheap" ammo (well, maybe 10-20% pre-Newtown prices), even for 9mm. No 22LR just yet, but, for example, 9mm comes up for sale a few times each day. Usually sold out within minutes, but it used to not even show up. So, I think things are getting a little better.

both walmarts i go to and my local gun shop are telling me its getting much better. my LGS has 223 for 45.99 100rd valu paks..not great but ive seen alot worse. im just glad to see a 100 rd box in a way..also, ive been scoring at walmart probably the last 4 of 5 times ive went...my area is looking better

I dont know if all areas have one of those but we do, its a pretty old walmart, was their way before the supercenter craze.

There are always lines here and there at times. I just prefer to not stand in them like a duck if at all possible. Where there's a will, there's a way.. and knock yourself out.

My local Academy will have as many as 8 lanes open to handle the morming rush. Lines with as many as 45 people in them is common. An equal number comes drivivg up on Fridays beteeen 0800 - 0805. Even at a one box limit per caliber with a max of 3 calibers most go home empty handed. If you are not one of the first 10 in line your chance at buying ammo is slim to none unless they get a larger than usual delivery.

I would put money down that if you gave up shooting for a month or two, it will be a different story when you get back into it.

See your OWN post, #18. You answered your own question. There is no other "straw in the drink". "8 lanes of people stacked 45 deep" EVERY DAY to buy ammo. It is an irrational, panic induced demand bubble. The only reason you feel it is a crisis imo is because you did not prepare, and are placing a very high value on being able to shoot as if there were no surge in demand. If you absolutely HAVE to shoot at the same levels that you did pre panic and are CONSUMED with finding enough ammo enough at something resembling last years prices, it is probably a stressful time right now for you and I am sorry your lifestyle is so hindered.
This is 100.1% a consumer driven phenomenon, whereupon private consumers are buying ammo at a much greater rate than 6 months ago for reasons that have turned out thankfully, to be unfounded, while supply has stayed constant in anticipation of a collapse of that heightened consumer demand....and it will collapse. Sooner than later. It is already showing signs of collapsing.
again, ive said it to you before, if you put the same effort and capitol into getting set up to reload, you would be a lot happier right now. components and equipment actually isnt that hard to find right now.

Just picked up a 200 round value pack of UMC .223 on SG Ammo. I went over to Gunbroker to see what the flippers would be selling .223 for and there are 43 pages of overpriced .223 ammo! 
Once the idiot flippers are caught with a bunch of ammo, I imagine things will return to a semblance of normality. Now if you weren't one who stocked up before, you may want to really consider this time.

I think it would be reasonable to conclude that the folks referenced in your second quote are the ones responsible for the situation referenced in your first quote. Maybe you need to re-examine your perspective.

I can find ammo pretty easily.
The magazine supply is also completely normalized.
I'm sure the reason is that the morons who caused the shortage have maxed out their credit cards, and that their payday advanced loans have dried up.
Thus, the crisis is ending.

I've seen that Meijer's is starting to get some in now, that's not being scooped right off the shelves. I bought 4 boxes of Winchester, 100 ct .40 SW for $34 a box last weekend. WM had Tula in .223 for $5.26 a box...they had at least a hundred boxes.
It's by far nowhere near back to normal, but I think it's headed in the right direction. I noticed recently on GB, that the .22 brick bids are starting to slide down. Maybe that's a good indication?
