HEADS UP!! Cabela's in KC has lots of Varget on the shelf. Not cheap, $29 a pound, but not a rip off either. Most other reloading supplies are way down though; no bullets or primers.

I'd pay $29 for Varget but haven't seen any around here for a while. I asked a vender at the last gun show at the fairgrounds here in Tampa and he was telling me that when he can get Varget, it's selling for $60 a pound. I won't be buying any at that price.

I bought an 8lb. jug of Varget here in Montreal for $200.00 before Christmas.
Singles usually run $31.95
Once all this commotion started the only place that had some was my club at $34.95.
They had 20lbs. in stock so I bought another 3lbs. at $34.95 which made my bum hurt a little but it gave me enough to load the 1,000 .30cal SMK's I have on hand.

I had another 8lb. jug on order from my regular supplier and he called me a few days ago to tell me that he isn't sure when my 8lb. jug will be in but he has 12 singles that I could have for $31.95 each.
I only took another 4lbs off him with a brick of Federal Gold Medal Match 210M primers which were $41.95.
He also had an 8lb. jug of IMR 8208 (XBR) which I took off his hands for $209.00.

All I need now is a few thousand 55gr Hornady FMJ's and my season is good.
I placed an order for a 6,000 count box but if I see it before next year I'll be the luckiest man alive.

Cabelas and Varget

I picked up 4 lbs of Varget yesterday at Cabelas in Hoffman Estates Il.. They keep it in the back room and you have to ask for it. They had 45 lbs last night right before closing so if you go there this morning I am sure you can get some. $27.99 each. ;)

I work 15 minutes from the Hoffman Cabelas. I'm hoping I can get there before its all gone tonight.

Thanks for the heads up.

Man, I truly feel bad for you guys outside the USA for the prices you have to pay to reload. Even after the 2008 price hicks 1lb cans of rifle powder were well below $30 and much of the time only $26/lb. While not the $19.95/lb of only a few years ago it was still acceptable under the circumstances. Paying $32 to $35/lb would really make me sick! Last 8lb jug of H4895 & H4350 I bought cost me $154, still a lot but nowhere near the $200 you have to pay!

Just grabbed 2lb at Hoffman Cabelas. I would have grabbed more, but two bottle limit per type.

I just got back and was able to grab 2LB of Varget and some BL-C2 (to test).

They probably had ~15LBs on the shelf left and more in the back.

There are large powder distributors that have 8lbs of Varget for $168 are too far away from me to make it worth my while to pay the hazmat and transport fees.
Maybe later in the year when supply catches up with demand I will be able to get an order big enough to make it worth my while.
