Could you answer the same exact questions I asked in my previous post aimed at thump_rrr? Where did you get them, when, etc? If I could find a couple of locals who are interested in doing likewise, I might put something together. Thanks for any advice you can give on bulk ordering.

What is up with the run on 22LR?? Did they stop making it or cut back production?

Found a couple of sealed boxes of Stingers. Price tag was still on them, $2.44!

I havent spent a dime on anything during the panic, in fact ive made some good money to set aside for components when they come back to normal. I periodically pick up 223 brass at the range and sell it on armslist for a fair price(110/k during full swing panic, $90 most recently)

Regardless, I do powder valley orders twice a year, june and december. I was barely able to get in my planned order of 10k primers and 5lb powder dec 26th. I have enough ammo on hand to do my normal weekly shooting for six months. Enough primers and powder to last another 6 months. Once a month I run down the road and collect about a half bucket of lead wheel weights from the local tire shop. I usually shoot into a trap so i never loose my lead. As long as im able to get my tula primers for normal $21/k price by late june I'll be happy. I can hold out until 2014 with my normal shooting but I certainly expect things to bounce back by then

First of a I'm in Canada and the USA requires export permits and Import permits for anything firearms related.
This prevents Americans from easily getting their hands on reloading components or ammunition from Canada.

The other thing is that American companies which sell firearms, ammunition, and/or reloading components to Canadian or other international distributors have agreements in place which they still need to respect.
I know for a fact that regular shipments are coming in from some bullet makers and all brands of .22LR are readily available.
The only thing that is hard to find that I'm interested in is .224" 55gr FMJ bulk projectiles.
I can buy boxes of 100 for $16.95 and I can even get a 5% discount if I buy 10 boxes but that's more than the $100.00/1,000 I'm used to paying so I don't buy any.
Our club brought in 1,000,000 rounds of Remington UMC .223 ammo and is selling it at $8.95/20 with no bulk discount which is still higher than the $7.00/20 we were paying for PMC before Sandy Hook but at least there is still ammo to shoot for now.
We also have access to Chinese ammo and Non Corrosive Norinco M885 is available for $499.00/1,600
One Canadian distributor who shall remain nameless told me he has an allotment of 40 AR-15 rifles per month. 40 rifles is not a huge number but in a small market it keeps things rolling.
As far as the 100,000 primers is concerned this was in February and the primers in question are Sellier & Bellot which say Made in Czech Republic on them.
I bought 5,000 for $126.00/5,000
I will buy another 5,000 in large pistol this week when I go by the range.

I ordered the APS primers from Powder valley. We did the most you could put in one 70 lb UPS hazmat box. I am not sure when, maybe Feb of last year? We bought 70 or 75,000 primers.

I ordered the powder also from powder valley. We did several 70 lbs shipments. Next time I will do more. My last big order was August of 2012. I always try to fill it right to the limit where I would take another box.

Bullets come from whomever is having specials. Lasercast, MBC, Midway, Midsouth, Natchez. I always try to buy in big blocks. 10,000+ bullets or more per shipment is kind of my goal. Brad and MBC ran a couple of specials and I stocked up in 12,000 bullet lots. I think I did 4 or 5 of them last fall before the election.

The key is to recognize a good price and a deal, have the money to spend at the time and have a place to pawn it off or store it. Right now I have so many bullets stocked up in my storage area it is actually a problem. I really don't know for sure what is in the pile. I am now just reloading what is on the face and digging my way back in. I figure if I have bullets, powder and primers/brass, just load it up and worry about what you need to order once the pile is worn down and the rush is over.

The true advantage of this system is this weekend. I shot 1900 rounds of 357 magnum in the last 9 days and really did not think much about it. I figure I roughly spent about $150 for lots of fun. It was cheaper than a few rounds of golf or so my friends say.

Some buy just to buy. I know of two gents each with over 200k primers (powder was over 400 pounds for one plus all the other items)...they shoot maybe once a week, couple boxes at a time. They are still buying. They are hoarding but they always have. I think they get a satisfaction out of the purchase, more than most do when purchasing a "want".

It would help if these folks would slow their purchases if they can. Feels like we are starting to turn a corner anyway. I hold no will ill towards them at all for their obsession.

I think I have enuf reloads to keep the kids & grandkids busy for 2 maybe 3 years.
Enuf components to reload all our calibers for 3-4 years.
I have asked them what will they do when I am gone---will you read some of these books & finally start reloading or will you buy your ammo if it is available.
Some of them have said "" let's sit down & show me how to do it BUT something always comes up & it never happens.
I gave up worrying about them & reloading.
I have enjoyed the hobby for about 40 years & it keeps me busy.

If I could get up to 10,000 bullets per pistol caliber and .223 I'd be at the point of saying I have a big enough reserve.

Interesting you say that. 10,000 bullets per caliber was my goal also. That is what I tried to order lots in.

I usually load 2,000 rounds at a time which keeps caliber swaps to a minimum.
I hate messing around with the bullet feeder and case feeder to get everything perfect.

My routine was to load 2,000 rounds per caliber and when that would get down below 1,000 rounds I would load another 2,000.

This meant that I always had between 1,000 and 3,000 rounds of any given caliber at any given moment.

I would buy my pistol bullets at our club which stocks Zero Brand Bullets.
I would usually buy them once a year when there was a national shoot at the club.
They usually had a 15% discount during the event.

This year due to everything that has transpired since Sandy Hook and a major flood due to a broken sprinkler main at our club there was no special on bullets so I've been holding off on buying.

This is the time of the year where I make most of my play money so I guess I will be starting to load up on bullets pretty soon.

Completely agree Gloob. Your screen name is just fun to say.

Since I have plenty of reloading components on hand (I learned my lesson from the last shortage ), when the current shortage started, I have worked to help others in need obtain their reloading components.

I'll admit I did buy more of my favorite bullets (Montana Gold 40S&W 165 gr JHP) but I just couldn't help myself when they were in stock. I promise I won't buy anymore of the same bullets until the "shortage" improves.

I'm OK on everything except Small pistol primers.
I bought 5K last August & have about 500 left.
I should've ordered 10k
So I'm beginning to sketch a bit about that.
I hope to find 2 or 3k within the next month or so.
