I am looking at a BP pistol for sale and listed as an Uberti manufactured copy of Colt's 1849 pocket pistol with a brass frame. As I don't recognize the Uberti manufacturers mark and can't find another Uberti 1849 with a brass frame, my question is:

Did Uberti make a brass framed copy of this firearm or is this copy possibly made by another manufacturer?

I know that the Confederates have made brass framed copies of other Colts during the Civil War but I don't know if they did this with a '49.

Thanks!

I am only aware of Uberti making it with brass grip frame not full frame. If you don't know, the logo is a U inside a circle with rifling like the U is sitting inside the muzzle. Hopes this helps.

Sometimes, the logo is sort of hidden under the trigger guard.

Thanks for the replies to you both. I am going to assume the seller is not a crook as he included a ? mark after the word Uberti. He doesn't know either. At this point all I need to know is if Uberti made any replicas of the '49 with a brass frame. Thanks again.

A few minutes ago I dug a brass framed copy of what was called an 1849 pocket pistol that sold under the name of CVA. It had no loading lever so I will assume that they don't know that it is a Wells Fargo model. Perhaps the maker of the pistol I'm looking at is one sold by CVA and made by what ever Italian maker they bought it from.

To tell you all the truth, I have offered $125 for the little devil and while my offer hasn't been accepted at this point, I'm wondering if I have made a mistake offering any money at all. As I am a man of my word, I will follow suit if my offer is accepted. It would be the right thing to do.

I am a little bit pissed at myself as I believe that a brass frame is neither historical or safe to shoot.

My brass frame ASM Wells Fargo is fun to shoot and I have never been able to overload it with powder. There's simply not enough room in the chambers to overload it.
