Need help identifying shotgun

I know that this is a single-shot 12 gauge shotgun, however, I can't make out much of the engraving on the receiver.

Attached is a picture of the receiver. All I can make out on it is what looks like a M, the name Johnsons, and the words arms, works, and fitch.....

I'm sure more pics would help. If I need to post more, let me know.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works

The company's name changed again to Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works in 1891, when the company relocated to Fitchburg, Massachusetts,

i went to college in that town

Here are more pics. I'm still working on the restoration. Since it was basically a rusty water pipe when I got it, it seems to be coming along nicely. I just hope that I can fix the bad cracks in the stock.....

Having a bit of trouble making out the engraving on the barrel as well.

I think it says, "12 Gauge Choke Bore Barrel And ---- In One"

Can anyone fill in the blank?

Also, there seems to be a nail hole in the stock. Could this have been for an emblem?

My gunsmith fixes stocks with cracks using some uber-epoxy, as well as brass pins if it is really bad

So it was made by Iver Johnson's Arms and Cycle Works? Is it just called an Iver Johnson's 12 gauge shotgun? Or is it a specific model? Also, can the serial/assembly number help to determine the date of manufacture?

they started making the "champion" model around 1905,. the markings on your receiver are too high up to allow room for the "champion" logo, So i would assume it is from before that time. Prices on these things are minimal though, what ive seen online suggest a very low price for those in bad shape. something like 25 dollars...i dont think there was actually a name for the shotgun... i think what you stated in the previous post was pretty accurate.

Was it manufactured around 1905? Could the serial/assembly numbers help determine the date?

The gun looks more like a Crescent Firearms single shot than an Iver Johnson.
The stock appears to have originally had a rounded pistol grip and someone has very poorly added a more pronounced grip piece from a newer stock which may have even been a rifle stock of some sort.

Have you measured the barrel?
From the pictures, which are not very detailed, it appears the barrel is longer than 30"?

As stated, these guns don't have a great deal of value but longer barrels tend to bring a bit more money.

You can make out real good what it says on this old Iver Johnson...........What year was it built ? I have no idea...................I know it shoots good.

From end to end, the barrel measures 36''. So that would be a 32'' barrel, correct?
