Finally some 40s&w finds its way to my local Academy

We finally got some 40cal in at our local Acedemy. Granted it was only 4 of the Remington 250 count boxes and 5 of the Winchester 100 count boxes but at least some showed up. A case of Remington 100 count boxes of 9mm came in along with 2 cases of Winchester 22lr 500/525 count boxes, a case each of AE 100 count boxes of 223&556, a 1600 round can of CCI 22lr and several cases of 308. No one seems to be buying the 308 as there is always some n the shelf.

No 45acp, no 38, no 357, no 44mag but there is some Blazer 44 special,aluminum cased @ $39.99 for a box of 50.

Today was one of the best days ammo wise in months. The 22lr sold out in 5 minutes as did the 9mm, the 40 cal and the 223/556. I showed up @ 0615 this morning only to find myself 5th in line. The first guy showed sometime before 0530 according to a friend who showed up @ 0530. Way too early for me and quite frankly 5th is getting a bit too far back to get those rare 1,000 count boxes of 9mm that show up about once evey 6 weeks. Same for the 500 round boxes of 45acp and the ultra rare federal 1,000 round boxes of 223. Got to be first in line those days.

Then sell me everything you have after all its not essential. Oh and at pre panic prices.

I've passed on 22 of the 24 matches I would have shot since the first of the year and of the 2 I did shoot I quit halfway through to conserve ammo. Since the first of the year I've managed to secure enough ammo to shoot my regular schedule of matches and practice sessions but I won't since replacing what I shoot is next to impossible as it stands today.

Please don't start the "you should consider reloadng mantra" as its as diffcult to secure those supplies as gettng factory ammlo is these days. In fact in my area there is only one place to get reloading supplies which makes it even harder with just one local shop selling these supplies.

Either I am misunderstanding what you wrote, or you seem to be replacing it just fine. You are just electing to not go shoot the ammo you have purchased.

I run through close to 20,000 rounds a year when healthy. A thousand bullets here a thousand there just doesn't cut it. Plus I would rather spend my time at the range shooting rather than sitting at home reloading ammo. Granted I could reload some now but with the humidity in single digits I'd rather wait for our monsoon season when the humidity gets to a point where I don't have to worry about static discharge. Then if you reload you have to deal with the problems of finding bullets,powder,primers and cases which is harder than finding factory ammo these days.
