Happy, private, buyer of .22 "Assault Rifle" at Phoenix gun turn in event.

This rifle seems to have most things needed to make a media inspired "assault rifle". It has a flash hider, large magazine, folding stock, pistol grip, and is semi-automatic. Luckily, it has "brown privilege", so it is less likely to be discriminated against than if it were black.

The ordinary Philippene made semi-auto .22 was fitted with some AR-15 style hardware to give it more sales appeal.

Verrrrry Interrrresting folding stock.

When someone asks me about the "Assault Weapons Ban" of the Klinton era, I display my Ruger 10/22 with the standard box magazine. I then place one of my 25-round Butler Creek magazines with it, and then say "This was an 'assault rifle" under the previous ban."

Well worth the $100 to save it from destruction... Great looking .22. It is unique and that makes it worth owning ..IMHO.

I'd be interested in seeing the pics and manufacturing info if you trace it. I have a 1945 P38 Dad brought back. It has commercial markings but I am told commercial pistols were picked up by the military especially toward the of the war. I dunno, it was Dad's and it's cool to me.

I have an armscorp M16 .22 clone in my barn locker. More than once I've taken out opossums with it when I catch em in the cat food.

The P38 is marked ac45, indicating Walther manufacture, in 1945. The serial numbers on these were in blocks of 10,000, with letter suffixes. so 0001a-9999a, 0001b - 9999b, etc. Standard production ended at approximately 3300c, after which things got really chaotic, and then the French had workers continue to build and assemble the guns for French use. Some parts were made with numbers into the f block, but complete matching German guns stop at about 3300c. Since mine is in the b block, I can tell that it was still made for German use, probably around March of 1945.

yep. I made this pic to illustrate and educate a family member who was trying to convince me that I needed nothing more than a 10rd hunting rifle. I built a G36 clone from a bone stock 10/22 and the kit comes with a 10rd magazine that's made to look like a proper 25rd magazine. So, no effective difference in capability from the conversion but he agreed with the sentiment of the pic and was QUITE surprised when I filled him on the trap I sprung on him.
