Glenfield mod 60

You need the magazine tube with follower attached. I just bought a new Marlin 60 and in the manual that is one part called "magazine tube, inside complete" with Marlin part number 507922.

Not sure when your gun was made and whether it's changed but that's the current part.

I got one for Christmas, about 1969-1970 IIRC, that had the squirrel design stamped in the stock.

I've had a model 60 for so long I can;t remember when or where I got it. At $25 it's not a steal, but armed robbery! Good eye! ((D)))

I had one with the squirrel stock that was a Christmas present from my folks in the late 70's. Unfortunately some SOB stole in (along with most of the other valuable stuff I owned) in the early 90's.

I bought one in the same time frame at K mart, $33 with scope. First gun. Horrible it would jam and jam again. Yes I remember the squirrel. I also remember envying my friends with single shots because they would be shooting and I was clearing jams.
I truly hated that gun.

You are going to have some fun shooting that little rifle! My wife has her dad's and it is a shooter. We all like plinking the row of tin cans (or pine cones or walnuts) with it. You're going to love it!

I have the same rifle w/ squirrel stock. I also have it's twin, the Marlin 60, same rifle. I have shot thousands of rounds through both and couldn't tell you the last time either was cleaned, but I 've never had a problem with either. Both are quite well worn, Yours may have still been "breaking in". The Model 60 is a fantastic 22lr rifle that is surprisin gly accurate right out of the box.

For you guys that are familiar, I have one that after a while fails to eject. It's intermittent and with all ammo. I have another identical Marlin that runs clean all the time. Is there somewhere to start to trouble shoot this fun little gun? I have cleaned and lubed numerous times and still hangs up on eject.

The squirrel on mine was on the grip, not the forend.

Mine is also, and so is his i'd guess. His picture is of the paint scuff not the squirrel......i think

looks like all you need is the magazine tube from what I can see and a buddy of mine just bought one of those rifles a couple weeks back for a 150 bucks and its a pretty good shootin ol 22 rifle.

Paint Scuff...

Try GENTLY rubbing the paint scuff with a piece of #0000 steel wool. If it's just on the surface, you should be able to remove it without taking off all of the original finish, and the #0000 is fine enough that it will leave a satin surface on the original finish. After removing, put a little good paste wax on the area and rub it out.

That era Model 60 was so accurate in my estimation and it's worth keeping in good shape and getting the new ammo tube for it.

That's a great score, Sal. Mine was so accurate, it made me look like an absolute ace at any range I showed up at. I never had a straighter shooting 22 in my life ore ever shot one for that matter.

Yours has the metal trigger and there is something about the action in it that has it all over the newer "cheapened" versions. I have one of those cheapened versions and my buddy across the street has my beloved 70's gun.

All I know is once that sight is tapped into place and adjusted for elevation, anything within a hundred yards you can dot the i on.

It certainly is a graceful looking lil 22lr. Maybe I'll even try my hand at ground squirrel hunting in the desert or tree squirrels later this year.
