Anyone have a hog problem in TX?

Obviously there's some. Anywhere south of here and there's hogs everywhere!. Well, Im getting my hunting certification on the 25th, and would love the opportunity to take a feral hog or two. Of coarse I'd be respectful of the land and everything on it. I simply dont have a place of my own to go to. I'd be willing to pay a small fee for access, Maybe give you some ammo. I'd be planning on using a 7.62x39 bolt action rifle. And will pick up all of my casings and whatnot. If you have conditions on which you would do this please let me know... Im sure I would find them all reasonable. Even if I didn't I would certainly respect a place to hunt none the less.
 
Thanks dprice.. looking for something more econimcal ya know ;)? Like show up on some land, give someone 50 bucks, and i kill a pig or two and leave....
Really want the free meat.
 
I have a hog problem. My problem is it costs about $150 per day (night) lease to hunt hogs. Check out Texashuntingforum.com

craigslist and local classifieds have a lot of guys advertising their hog hunts. I have tried a bunch and had decent success. Most ads are on the up and up.

Heres a question though, for those that dont lease the land, and still have the problem, why wouldnt they let an ethical honest hunter on their land? Im pretty sure there are poeple who even get paid to exterminate hogs, so why not have it done for free and stimulate the recreation as well?

The answer I typically hear is our over litigious society.
 
Theres alot of reasons that i've been told such as fences cut, gates left open, stock getting shot, trash everywhere, and the simple fact that there are folks that are more than willing to pay a high fee to hunt.

Because of the bottom feeding bloodsuckers called lawyers...
 
You fall down while hunting and next thing you know the landowner is paying you a large settlement. Damn lawyers.

Also - Not everyone wants strangers roaming around on their land. I know I would never lease my land to anyone I did not personally know. Just a privacy issue.
 
People will let you hunt for free. The problem is, yes even in rural TX, is that our communities are no longer communities. We have to be social, get away from the TV and computer. Go to the gun range and talk to people, go to church, join civic organizations. Then you'll meet people who trust you and it won't just be an economic transaction.
 
I have no horse in this race but your tag line of: "Boom boom boom boom. Bang bang bang bang" would make me leery of someone right off the bat. First impressions matter.
 
What about signing a waiver? It can be informal or whatever... obsolving the landowner of all responcibilities.

Even a waiver won't prevent a lawsuit, and a rancher isn't interested in losing time and money on attorney fees even if he wins the case.
