I'm ready to reload my first 9 MM case. If I'm reading Lyman's data right for
115 gr. Winchester HBRN using Pistol Powder, starting load is 5.9 grains and the max load is 6.5 grains with a OAL of 1.090.
If I'm wrong please help me with the load data and OAL.

You are right about everything except the bullet the data is for.

The Lyman data is for a Hornady XTP hollow-point, not a Winchester FMJ-RN.

Your OAL will be probably longer with a RN bullet then with the truncated cone Hornady.

+1. As usual, good advice.

Here's 2004 Alliant load data for 115 gr FMJ and PowerPistol with more typical 1.120" OAL (I use 1.125" - 1.135" with 115 gr Winchester FMJ bullets). Like with any new bullet, you should conduct the powder work up from the start charge or 10% reduction from max charge.

So then Lyman's does not have data for the Winchester HBRN 115 gr. bullet. So now what?
Do I keep searching the Internet for the data? Should I buy another reloading book? I have Lyman and Modern Reloading by Richard Lee.

See post #3.

The data is in the 2004 Alliant manual bds linked to.

It says:
115 FMJ bullet + Power Pistol.
Seated 1.150".
Max load is 6.7 grains.

Reduce 10% for the Starting load of 6.0 grains.

Basically, the same data is on the bottom of page 531 of your Lee manual.
Except Lee never bothers to say what OAL they use.

Use the starting load for the 115 gr. JHP your manual lists. My Lyman 49th says 5.9-6.5 Power Pistol. Stay under the max OAL, use starting loads and you should be ok.

I also would suggest using the plunk test for determining OAL for your particular gun. On the opposing page the max. OAL is 1.169". OAL for the JHP is 1.090" and OAL for a 120 gr. lead RN is 1.065". I would make up a dummy round at 1.090" and try the plunk test, and go from there.

sum ding wong, not allowed to upload pic of plunk test??

Only problem is its a RN.

Use any FMJ RN data and you'll be good. For my guns I use a OAL of 1.150 but that's me. If you stay between 1.120-1.169 you'll be fine. Just start at min and work up.

The entire problem is the OP has RN bullets and no data is available for 115 gr. RN bullets in the Lyman manual. Thus my answer...
