I have a lead on an 1892 production 10ga Model 1887. I would say the gun is between fair and good condition. What's the ballpark value of it?

Probably $700 to a $1,000.
If you want a short chambered 10 ga that will only handle Black Powder loads.

They are not usable with any modern 3" or 3 1/2" 10 ga smokeless powder loads.

I'm not really planning on shooting it. They only want $300 and I thought it might be a good investment plus a "cool" addition to my accumulation. Any specialist company make black powder 10 ga shells?

I should add that the bore isn't too good but the outside cosmetic shape is quite good with just a few marks on the fore end.
