Looking for someplace to purchase a 7.62x39 bbl for a TC pro hunter.Been checking all over the net but no luck.Advice please.

I ordered a .41 mag SS barrel from MGM (Match grade machine). Very good quality and very good prices. I would buy from them anytime. Irtys

If ya got a few weeks to spare, Matchgrademachine did my custom 338 Win Mag Barrel. A little more than factory, but you can order exactly what YOU want.

Absolutely love my new barrel

Witchhunter, I thought smith and wesson closed the custom shop when they took over T/C?

The T/C Custom Shop is closed as of this writing. No one is sure if and when it will reopen, so T/C is not an option.

A true .311" bore 7.62x39 Contender barrel is going to be a hard one to find. Both Bullberry and Match Grade Machine only use .308" bore barrels for 7.62X39. This means one is reloading for the barrel, so other caliber choices make more sense, like the .30-30 Ackley Improved.

From Bullberry's site.

Custom barrels chambered in 7.62 x 39 will be built on a true .308" bore barrel. This does not allow for use of ANY remanufactured or factory-built ammunition regardless of bullet diameter used. These products are commonly made for traditional military chambers in a larger bore size or have been fired in oversized chambers and will cause damage to your firearm when used in our barrels.

I have a few bullberry barrels, they do great work, they'll make any thing you want, give Fred a call

Contacted mgm, waiting for response. What would be the the ideal bbl length for the caliber?Would be shooting at 100 yds only. This gun would be for paper only,no hunting.Load devlopment only.

swampcrawler,

Edstc seems to be down. I've been looking for a .357 Contender rifle barrel at a good price.

John

If you're getting a custom rifle bl anyway, I'd go 17-19". The Contenders are already very light, even with 23" bls. Pro Hunters are sturdier and heavier, but I think 16" won't feel right.
