Yep , i got one box of .22

So, a friend went to the K.C. KS Cabala's store Monday morning and found a full pallet load of CCI Min-Mag ammo setting in the front aisle.
1 Box per customer limit, and $10 a box of 100.

He & his wife & a friend snagged 3 boxes.
He gave me one today to clean the dust bunnies out of his 1890 Winchester!

They went back over there Tuesday morning to get 3 more and it was already sold out!!

It feels like it could be a long while before .22 LR is back on the shelves in large quantities. Its' so cheap that even a poor man can buy a lifetimes supply...which many have done. Once those people get done buying, there will be another tier of buyers who after not having seen it for a year will begin their own stockpiling operation...which will cause the supply issue to continue.

Who knows how many waves of binge-buying have to take place before everyone in the market is satisfied that "now I have enough". Until that happens...it's gonna be a pain in the neck.

I'll keep shooting my big-bores until then. It's kind of funny that it's far more convenient for me to shoot .44 mag than .22 LR.

I had to wait for a store opening to get any 22.

I was in line at Dick's at 0300.

But I got two buckets and two bricks.

They were out of 22 in about ten minutes. It's nuts.

Hi, nathan. The Academy stores in Houston are really starting to catch up on their ammo shortages. Like you, I've seen a lot of 50 and 100 round boxes. The folks in the store have assured me though that they are receiving bricks of 22, I've just not timed my visits right. Everything else seems to be plentiful.

I would like to suggest a new strategy.

What if we start an internet rumor about an impending toilet-paper shortage?

Like, TP Beetles are eating the TP trees in South America or something??
Or, the DHS is buying all the TP available to stock the detention centers they are building in the desert southwest???

Then the Moron's that are hording .22 ammo will start spending all their disposable income hording toilet paper.

Of course, it will take up way more room in storage then .22 ammo.
So they will have to build room additions or out-buildings to store it in.

Then, when they run out of money building room additions or out-buildings?
.22 ammo will begin to fill the shelves again.

And then termites will eat their TP horde, and their room additions, and out-buildings.
And they will get what they deserve!!

That's already happened in Venzuela. Gov't bought 2 millon dollars worth of TP to alleviate people's.

The 22LR thing is starting to get old. It's been 6 months.

Still plenty of empty shelf space in the gun departments at all of the nearby Walmarts, Dick's, Cabelas, etc.

What little .22LR ammo that does show up (and for some reason it's usually on Friday morning at a lot of these places), is gone within 15 minutes of it hitting the floor.

So I guess it's out there but you have be at the right place, at the right time, and be near the front of the line when the store opens to get your one box of .22LR ammo.

Went to Walmart yesterday at just prior to 6am and they had six '333' boxes of .22lr at reasonable price. I didn't buy any as I do not own .22lr firearm and do not like to shoot. Perhaps Americans are right when they say 'the early bird gets the worm' or is it Englishmen?

That rumour is the bunk. The true rumour is that they are stockpiling TP in the shelters they are building for the political and social elite to guard against the zombie apocalypse. I would tell you how my populist group sabotaged that by sneaking into a shipping center and spraying the TP with extracted oil of poison ivy, but I was sworn to secrecy. Chrysanthemum.

I've learned my lesson in years gone by. With something like .22 LR ammo I now keep about 6-8 bricks of it around as a 'cushion" for times like this. Normally every time I use up a brick another one gets purchased to replace it. Every brick gets marked with a sharpie with the purchase date so I can use the oldest stuff first. I don't go through near as much .22 LR as I used to but right now I still have about five and a half bricks. Hopefully things will normalize before I run real low on the stuff. I don't consider that hoarding, but more of a case of being prepared for those times when supplies are short; which has a lot to do with the political climate. I started doing this the first time Clinton got elected to the White House.

We'll know that's happening when the high-priced softer stuff is missing from the shelves and all we poor serfs are left with is the rough single-ply stuff. When government people using our tax money are involved, you can be sure their miserable hinies will only be touched by the good stuff.

I knew my local store was getting 4 "bricks" of .22LR today. I was there at 0530 with chair, coffee, dog...

0930 they opened up and I (along with 3 other early birds) marched up to buy our one "brick."

$26.99 OTD for a 333 rd box of Winchester.

I :facepalm: at the people paying the scalpers $50/500 on Calguns. Ummm... $27/333 is right about there.

The worst part? I actually have enough .22LR to last me a good long while. Just nothin' else to do. After sitting there for 4 hours I wasn't gonna just go home empty handed. I think I have the sickness!:banghead:

What does a brick of 22lr look like? I haven't seen one in ten months and have forgotten what they are. Its actually cheaper for me to reload 38 special than buy 22lr right now.

I do see .22LR ammo on the shelves...not super often but with some regularity. The local Scheel's is the best source in my town. They tell me they get .22 ammo a couple times per week. It doesn't last long but the store isn't far from work so it's convenient to hit them up on the way to work a couple times a week. When they have it the price is a little high but not too "rapey"- around $.07 per round or so. Luckily I happened into bulk ammo a couple times. I bought some 225 round cans a couple times and got a brick one other time. Plus I scored a 1,000 count pack just as it was getting scarce. My stock on hand is usually a few thousand rounds at least so I'm basically just buying enough to restock what I shoot (when I can find it).
