I just picked up a Cook's Holster this week for the M&P Shield. I found them by accident while searching for Shield holsters. They are out of Georgia.

It is a one-piece Kydex holster for IWB. It is very thin but sturdy and it is affordable. It is not adjustable but can be purchased with a 0 or 15-degree cant. They come in a wide variety of colors. The edges are smooth without any sharp corners. Honestly I was tempted by the price but my first impressions are very good.

I will do a review after I have used it for about a week.

So here is a picture of what the holster looks like. As you can see, the belt clip is integrated into the holster and is made of Kydex. It is not as sturdy as metal clips and gives a bit but it does not affect carry. It stays in place and catches on the belt. So far so good. It is pretty comfortable and secures the gun well.

Well, I have been carrying the M&P Shield 9 for about a week now in this holster so I will provide my thoughts.

Pros:
-Great price and very fast shipping
-Comes in a variety of colors/prints (if you're into that)
-Great retention and the gun clicks in place
-Slim and lightweight with minimal printing
-Rigid in the main body
-Easy to holster/unholster and grip gun
-Nice smoothed edges
-Very comfortable for a single clip IWB in Kydex

Cons:
-Belt clip is a little flimsy (can aid in flexibility during movement)
-Not adjustable, has fixed cant
-Has some gaps around the seam
-Not as comfortable as a hybrid holster
-Not as sturdy as some high-end Kydex holsters
-Limited to specific gun models but the selection is growing quickly

Cook's has great customer service and the turn around is fast. From the day I ordered the holster to the day I received it was 3 days (Georgia to Texas). That is quick. It does not have the bells and whistles of other Kydex holsters such as replaceable belt clips/loops and it is not adjustable for cant or position.

The main benefit of the holster for me is that it is minimalist, lightweight, thin and great for summer carry. While the corners can sometimes dig at you, all of the edges have been smoothed and polished making it less noticeable and more comfortable. I carried this all day for a week and found it to be more comfortable than my leather holster (likely due to the thickness).

Overall, this is a winner and I will keep it for daily carry. For $45.00 shipped, shipped quickly I might add, this is a great low cost option. Cook's offers this holster for a variety of handguns and they said more guns will be added to the list soon. This holster comes in at about $20-30 less than most of the other options and is effective. I can't comment on long-term reliability yet but it has taken a beating this last week and held up well. Mag pouches are available and they also make other items by request including money clips and phone docks.

I got one for a Glock 27, 3 day shipping, excellent holster. I did remove the rust shield at the top of the holster, to much of a chance of injury in a fall.

Several flaws apparent in the design. Hope it didn't cost much.
We are always looking for feedback from our users. If you could elaborate on some of the flaws you see we would really appreciate it. We will try to correct them in future products. Thanks

Tried one for my XDs just to see how well it worked. Concealed good but I didn't like how it held the gun at all. Caused a lot of finish wear on the slide in the little time I used it. Needless to say I found a different holster

The big ones are:

Rides too low, preventing a full firing grip. The front is cut too low for an IWB, promoting the risk of the front sight catching on the pant material of waistband once the gun clears the holster and there's a bit too much material left around the trigger guard.

Would have to see one in person to determine if other flaws exist.

Please return the holster and will issue a full refund. We do not want to be one of the holsters in your "box of holsters" that never get used. You can contact me on here via PM or email us at [email protected].

Thanks for the feedback. We will look at those suggestions. Good stuff! I looked at your website and you are doing some good work. Keep it up.

Glad I found this especially the critical comments. I prefer a lower riding holster and also gain great confidence knowing the owner is committed to customer service.

The problem with an IWB riding too low is you lose the firing grip. As a result, you have to pluck the gun up a bit by the fingertips before a full firing grip is possible. This results in a slow, inconsistent hold. Add some time pressure (bad guy actively trying to kill you or loved one) and the problem really presents itself.

If one acknowledges and accepts that fact because they prefer the possible enhanced concealment, that's fine. But you better practice your draw.....a lot.

I agree that Mr. Cook seems like a great guy.
