This couldnt be anymore basic, its a frankengun. Barrell from a mossburg 500, receiver from a mav 88 and a pistol grip that i found. Nothing better for defense inside the house though. I keep it buck slug buck slug buck. :)

Good pictures, and nice guns. I'd like a nice coach gun. Seems like when I was a kid, hunting in my rural area, double barrels were a dime a dozen. Everyone seemed to have one. Things have changed.

It doesn't have to be a pump to be bland! About 3 years ago a friend sold me this pristine Remington 12ga. with an English stock and a 21" VR barrel. The non-palm swell stock lets it slip into this rifle scabbard for travel on horseback or ATV during outdoor use. This was my first English stocked shotgun and I wasn't sure I would like it or shoot it well. Because it is my most used non-skeet gun answered those questions.

Dang! All my pictures are over on the other thread!

:cuss:

BTW, thanks for the laugh, Doug.

I saw the title and immediately experienced tongue in cheek!

This has been a fun thread :)

The only thing I've added to mine since the original post is sling swivels and a sling (which I take on and off between home and range, etc.).

Win sxp marine defender.

Very smooth and quick action. It is bare bones, might add a sling if I can find one I like.

For the folks with these guns (great all purpose guns IMO not just for HD) what are you using to put a light on the wood furniture models? I want to add a light to my Mossberg 500 but the ones that have on/off control that doesn't interfere with grip etc that I have found are all polymer fore-grip style. Is there a light that can hang off barrel or tube and has another means of turning on and off without taking hands out of firing position?

Thanka

You can get one of these and a light with a pressure switch. Then just velcro the pressure switch to the foregrip or something. That is the one I should have bought, but instead I bought the second one for my Maverick 88 and just put the flashlight into the second hole and mounted it to the magazine tube.

This is the picture of mine. If you click on the second link and then click on the pictures, you will see my gun at the end of the pics. There are 3 of them I think. I also liked it instead as it came with a QD sling mount. It's also on there very solidly and is not going anywhere. The second one won't fit if you have a Mossberg 500 with the 18.5" barrel I don't think. The length of it is 2" so you would have to measure the space from the front of your foregrip to the barrel lug if you went with the one I did.

I've also heard that these are pretty good too and would be pretty light.

Doug - except for your stock shell holder being on the wrong side (SOME of us are LEFTIES!), yours is a perfect example of what a HD/Zombie Slayer/Survival gun should be about - basic simplicity

KISS

Not an Ithaca guy, certainly not the new ripoff company, but thought they needed some representin'...

This two were originally used in the Mansfield, Ohio prison.

My buddie put and extended mag, and side saddle on his, and I put a rifled choke slug barrel on mine.

The last time I, was home I, took it to the indoor range down the street, and was punching nice .75 cal. hole's in the half size target from 25 yards.

Apparently the second one didn't post because it was used in another thread a while back sorry.

Winchester 1200 Riot

Hello friends and neighbors // Few or no accessories... yep a preferred design ...for years.... like this one from 1968(?).

One I have not even assembled but would make a fine HD shotgun. as well as the Riot shotgun it was designed as.

I appreciate the comments. When I set out, I was looking for one of the more "tactical" models with maybe an extended barrel, and some ghost sights, but having had the Maverick out to the range a number of times, I really like it for what it is...a simple defensive shotgun.

Actually I am left handed, but for some reason grew up shooting long guns right-handed. I do shoot handguns with my left.

its just an old 7 shot Ithaca DSPS with an elastic shell holder on the stock. No fuss, no nothing extra. Just a great shooting and reliable 12 gauge home defense gun.

Being *this* side of The Pond, I don't "do" HD. But I *do* "do" PSG:

I have an identical gun that's been permanently restricted to 3-shot and, when I had to use that because my 8-shot's firing pin broke, I learned a valuable lesson. The 3-shot had a sling swivel under the butt; no sling, just the swivel. When I mounted it, it kept getting caught in my clothing. So, IMHO, don't put a sling - or *swivel* - on yer gun unless you really *need* it...

Regards,

Mark.

P.S. Yeah, I know - when I got Dead Man's Click, I should've refrained from ejecting the empty and just stuffed a replacement into the mag and *then* racked it.

P.P.S. After a bit of investigation, I think that a bit of wear needs fixin' in order to stop those FTFs.

This is great guys. I actually hopped on the forum to ask what you guys thought about picking up a used 870 express, cutting to 18.5, and nothing els.

I had an 870 with 3 shot extention, cut to 20 and change, with a mesa tactical 8 round shell saddle on the receiver and cheap ati m4 style stock.

Was it cool to have 16 rounds of 00 on tap? yep. was it insanely heavy, slow, front heavy, awkward, hard to get in and out of the truck, hard to carry? yep.

cant wait to do my bare bones defensive scatter gun. keep the pics coming!!!

HEY ANDY! got a little sister il trade you for your 870! that's exactly what im wanting to do. the green looks amazing

That one went to my Bro. It was a basket case when I picked it up. The left side of the receiver is stamped AHP 3476. Arizona Highway Patrol? Arkansas? Who knows? I added a XS Big Dot sight, Big Safety and an 870P take off stock set. The metal was bead blasted and Duracoated Olive Drab Green.

I no longer do any Duracoat--even with a respirator the fumes were not manageable.

thanks for the info. when I get around to doing one il just have my smith cerekote it when he chops it. love the look of wood and that green. of course well worn wood and park looks awesome as well.
