As the title said, ----deleted--- I loaded 36 7.62x54R rounds.

QTY ------------POWDER-----------GRAINS

#10 ------------IMR 4064 -------------42

#10 ------------IMR 4064------------43.5

#10-------------IMR 4064-------------45

#6--------------IMR 4320-------------47.3

Now these loads will be split in half between my Mosin Nagant and PSL-54C, the mosin will fire them all first to test the pressure.
I had originally drove an hour and a half to meet a fellow member to get that 4320, because my local supply was spotty, and I was desperate.... ironically enough, I went to work later that day, which afterwards i swung by the local cabelas, and for once they actually had something i could use, so i scooped up a pound of 4064. but as far as loading, the 4320 was a more consistent powder throw. Now i must buy some more brass for the future, and grab a box of Barnes triple shock bullets for hunting season! I have got the bug for reloading now! (Well, it was in me all along, had 2 grandfathers who were avid reloaders)

Remember that just because it doesn't show overpressure signs in your Mosin doesn't mean that you won't get them in the PSL.

I was fairly conservative with the loads, and I specifically used 150 gr bullets for the PSL as it said that it should take no more than 160 gr bullets.

Congrats!!! Welcome indeed. 7.62x54r for my MN is my next reloading project as I just ordered my first 40 brass cartridges. I'll probably shoot and work with 20-30 for now and keep the other 10-20 for hunting as long as they shoot well. They are 150gr sp ppu. I look forward to your range report!

I've had pretty good luck with those 150gr PPU loads. About 1.5" groups at 100 using the iron sights. I haven't had any luck coming close to that with my reloads but that's probably due to not having any .311 bullets.. They are non-existent locally and Midway is out of soft points every time I've made an order the last couple months.

I'm itching to go to the range and test these out. I'm hoping to figure out an ideal load before hunting season, but once I find a decent load, I'll have to start fresh and work up a load using 150 gr, .311 Barnes triple shock bullets. I'm sure it'll be somewhat similar, but not identical. I'll post my groupings when I get the results.

Ya after loading my 243 that first round was a rush to squeeze off!! And it wasnt just me, my dad was hiding behind a nearby tree!

I did the same thing yesterday.
