Remington Pocket 1863 Hammer Pull

Hi

i recently acquired a Pocket 1863 Remington and an Uberti 1849
the Uberti feels really good in my hand and the action is very smooth,

However my Remington Pocket Revolver is Very hard to pull back the Hammer
i Disassembled it cleaned part in the trigger assembly put it back together
and Still very very tight to pull back the hammer

Any ideas how i can get the hammer to feel more smoother without losing the tip of my thumb?

Yes i was going to ask that in my Post about the possibility
of losing Power by doing that but then you did say Do not over do it.

BTW when i took the revolver apart the only part i was not sure how to remove was the hammer and hand, So i took the rest apart polished the pieces and put them back in as far as the spring i did not see a screw like the Colt has so i guess i have to Tap it out.

Not sure how easy it will be putting it back in lol

First i would like to get the Pocket Police .36 Then The Colt Walker.

i would go with the Walker Kit but i really love that Engraved Cylinder
so i rather pay more for that.

i Dont have a .36 yet .i have

*The Super Companion Magnum Model cap and ball .22
*1858 Stainless Steel Buffalo with Kirst
*1858 New Army Brass
*Uberti 1848
*1863 Pocket as of Today
But truthfully Even though the Uberti is Bigger,
it feels and looks so dam pretty compared to the Pocket remington.

i wanted NAA Earl but they are out of stock,
so i went with the remington Pocket.i kinda regret it.

Well i was not really sure about wanting to grind or
file down the mainspring.So for now i took it out and replaced it with a rubber band (joking)

No i had to use a Rubber Mallot gently tapping it as i guide the spring back in with a fat driver i have i feel no difference so for now ill leave it alone.

At least i gave it all a good cleaning and polishing again and some oil.

i wont press my luck tonight

i had taken my main spring out and pushed it down as i can go,
but the hammer pull is really putting pain on my thumb,

Even my NAA Super Companion is smoother then that.

i slightly Grinded the Spring and it is alot better now.

Some people use a cardboard shim between bottom of mainspring for what ever purpose that serves it looks useful

Hammer Pull Needs More Tension

i was able to finally get a chance to fire off a few rounds with two Different Revolvers

The 1863 Pocket,After that last time i had relived some of the tension from the Mainspring,the action is as smooth as butter but i have ti fire at least a 2nd time to actually set a cap off.

On the Uberti 1862 Police with 4 1/2" Barrel. i did not see any evidence of cap jams through all 5 shots, but i still gave it a Flick of my wrist to fling the Cap away from the action once it was near that loading port.

So in Conclusion

Uberti 1862 Police:
i Do not see any need at this time to replace Niipples or fill in the Notch on the hammer with JbWeld.

1863 Pocket Remington
i may have to push that Spring back up higher and use a tiny piece of credit card shim

i Do not want it too tight that a Mule has to pull the trigger.

Other then that i quite pleased.

Seems only sometimes i am able to fire off a cap or two

What is happening since i removed some Tension from the mainspring is

The Gun only shoots after the second shot which could only be due to
The Caps are not seated enough and the Hammer seems to seat them Down further on the 1st Strike

What i am going to do now is put in a New Main Spring
then Follow some of these suggestions

I took it out and reinserted it all the way down into the notch at the bottom of the grip frame. Now it is resting only against the roller as it should be. It is much better than before and smoother. i just received a New Mainspring and my Question is why is it too easy to put in.
It was not easy putting in the old one when i first got the Revolver;

What could i be doing wrong?
The Roller is fine.It seems only way i can make the Hammer tight is by
Not only shimming the Bottom of the Main Spring but also a rubber wedge pushing up towards the Rolling pin so it stays under the Roller.
