Just finished this guy up.

I cut down the barrel with a hacksaw then squared with a machine square and a sharp bastard file. Then I slowly removed barrel material until approx 15mm round.

I then threaded the muzzle with a 15mm die.

Then using the file again removed most of the threads.

Using a 30 Cal 14mmLH die starter I then threaded the muzzle to ak style threads nice and concentric.

Measured concentricity? With a caliper.

Used a drill and a brass screw to crown the barrel with lapping compound.

Using a 14mm spark plug washer on the base I screwed on the muzzle device and indexed it to vertical with a strap wrench.

Drilled the pin hole

Cut off the base of a spare drill bit of the same size and tapped it in with a punch.

Tig welded the pin in place

Polished trigger internals

Scuffed with red scotch Brite and painted with metallic pearl black engine paint.

16.5in overall barrel length with pinned and welded extended amd65 muzzle break.

Topped with Ncstar pistol scope and 3/8base rings to the original rear sight base.

Archangel Mosin stock and Harris bipod.

Well that's certainly the most different looking bubbafied Mosin-Nagant I have ever seen!

Awaiting range report and sound decibel readings.

Not me, I kind of hope he ruined any accuracy by chopping the barrel. But I'm a purist at heart. And even I have to admit it looks like he did good work, even though I'm a keep them original kind of guy.

Praise him and dang him in one paragraph.

Wow, impressive!

To really bubba it up, you need some duct tape on there somewhere.

Awesome. Guns like those are how you have three lanes to each side of you at the range all to yourself which can be worth every penny on those busy weekend days. Take it to the indoor range and double your fun!!!!!!!

Mosin-Nagants were made for the WECSOG gunsmith!

I would certainly warn the fire department before shooting, and I shure as hell am glad U got enough eye relief on that scope!!

I am the same way, he did nice work, but why. So much time and money into something that might...just might shoot as well as a $400 new rifle?....to each his own.

I have seen far too many really valuable 91/30 modified....there are a billion of the silly things, at least do it to one that is not 1916 Westinghouse.

He did it because he can, which is a good enough reason. And he customized it exactly the way he wants it, by himself. Which is really cool.

Frigging give him a break and let him show off his rifle.

Looks pretty cool! How about smoothing out the dings in the reciever and repainting? Bent bolt would help with ergonomics. I would have kept the barrel longer but that's personal preference.

Another piece of history destroyed for future generations.

Tell me the historical significance of this particular Mosin Nagant. There were millions of these rifles, should we just stuff all of them into a museum? Why do people care so much about resale value on $70 rifle? As for 'future generations' he made this for himself to use. After 100 years of bubba, there are still plenty of K98s, Mosins, and other milsurps unmodified for anyone to buy and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Tell me the historical significance of this particular Mosin Nagant.

An infamous hunter failed to question the killing of over a thousand elephants for their ivory by himself alone at the turn of the 20th century. Similar story with the Buffalo. Things are there until they aren't. The fire at the Library of Alexandria was no big deal. There were plenty of other books.

It's his private property. Give the guy a break....sheesh.

Nice job OP. I am in the same process with a Mosin myself. (I have one I kept original to offset the modded one). I actually bought a crowning tool though....and decided against a muzzle brake due to noise concerns. The rifle I am modding had a botched counterbore job, was not unique and didn't shoot worth a darn with that bad counterbore.

Have you looked into reloading for this rifle?? Probably the best way to squeeze the most accuracy potential out if it.

Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to your range report :D

Thanks to my supporters.

Fact is, it is my rifle. I can do whatever I want with it.

I have another that was restored to original spec, matching numbers, refined wood and bluing.

Range report tomorrow
