"bland" non-tactical "defensive" shotgun pix

Nice thread!

Here is how I run it. This 870 came stamped with the word 'tactical' on it, so I had to work to make it non-tactical. It did come with a factory extended magazine. It's an express model.

I cleaned it up.

I patterned it.

I replaced the black synthetic stock and forend with walnut.

I put a limbsaver recoil pad on it.

I installed a light (four sevens mmx).

I loaded it up with 6 brennekes - empty chamber, action locked, safety on, "cruiser ready".

Then I shot it a whole bunch.

Truth be told the shotgun you just posted a picture of is much more capable of protecting you and yours than the shotguns that have had a bunch of useless junk added to them.

Maybe, but maybe not. Personally I prefer a light attached to all my HD guns, shotguns or otherwise. I also prefer my Benelli M2, it's faster for me and reliable as a rock, although I do have a Mossy 500 also.

Personally I'd prefer to not point my gun at everything I want to ID. Have thought about a second light for the longguns but no desire to replace my surefire hand held.

19050s A5. barrel had already been cut. briley cut it to 18.5 and put a thin wall choke in it and a new bead site. after months of ebay bidding a good uncracked older stock set was acquired and was re finished and cleaned and re-oiled. and decelerator was put on. a local gun smith put all new springs in for me. ever tried taking an A5 apart ? i dont reccomend it unless you know what your doing. i left the bluing as is. has just enough of carry wear that it adds nice character. fun little gun. 4+1 buckshot its my HD and camping gun.

Wow oh wow El Torro. I was planning to get a new A5. I may have to get a second barrel for it to do this.

where do you guys get those shell holders that slip/strap on the stock like the OP has? looks like that one holds 6 on each side?

I don't have a pic to post because I don't use a shotgun for HD. But I certainly wouldnt knock anyone who does. Talk about pure firepower! All my shotty's are field guns with at least 26" barrels. But I wanted to comment and say that this has been a great thread. Always preferred the K.I.S.S approach. And I have seen some very fine guns in this thread. Makes me want to buy one just because.

Walsh - Somehow I missed the bland part of your shotgun. :D

The cross is a nice touch though... it just cries out, "Killing for Christ".

Well to me it's bland..... no fancy sights, no electronic stuff, nothing that can easily fall off, nothing really slowing me down (bayonet is just for prop, not actually using it for defense).

Sometimes I wonder if I defended myself against an atheist if the cross sticker would indict me for a "hate" crime.....oh the wonderful court system.

Love the pucker factor of the bayonet. Psychologically it's very intimidating on the receiving end.

my new to me 870 Police Wingmaster

It had the old factory top folder on it, but it was awkward and painful to shoot, so I tracked down some old police take off wood on ebay for cheap

sure gives it a better look imo

I am still looking for a butt plate or a recoil pad that is period correct, or at least looks that way, if anyone has one to sell or can point me in the right direction

pikid89 - The new Remington Supercell is a pretty close fit and can be had for under $20 most places. Not period correct, but they work great which is far more important on a user...

I had a supercell on the supermagnum i traded for this one, and i liked ot pretty well. I found a new production repro of the jostam hy-gun that is grind to fit that i was considering

What Dale said. I just posted pics of a Supercell for a Wingmaster wood stock in your Police Folder thread... before I knew you'd sourced a Jostam.

:)

It helps to realize that Southerners like their men deeply religious and a little crazy.
