I do now got in the mood to crank out some today. Found a very accurate loading using Longshot. 7 grains behind a 125 JHP. Loaded up a little over 1,200 rounds.

8mmman, that is my long time 38 spcl. load. Seriously, I have been loading that combination for as long as I can remember, and I have to agree it is one super accurate, high velocity load. Although I have worked it up a bit more, it performs so nicely out of all my .357's. I wouldn't suggest running it through anything but a heavy framed SS cylinder wheel gun though, as it does push the pressure limits a tad.

I'm using it in my 66 and 686.

I'm using it in my 66 and 686. It is listed as a P+ loading and It performs like it is too! Really good load.

According to Hodgdon that load will generate 18,300 PSI and is in their .38 Special +P listing. I like HS-6 and Longshot for .38 Special +P loads. Both are very accurate for me.

The Following Data Exceeds Published Maximums

I too am running it through both of my 66's a -2 & a -5 in addition to a couple other heavy framed ported .357's.

I've also got an HS6 load I like very much as well, but I personally feel like Longshot is some what easier to manage pressures with. I've worked up to a significantly heavier charge than the +P Hogdon load of 7.0 gr. without even the slightest sign of excessive pressure. I won't post that particular load, as I don't want someone to try and run it through a light framed or inadequately framed revolver with a load that is probably pushing around 21,000 psi, but I'm guessing probably more @ better than 10% over max. I'm pushing a 125 gr. JHP ( XTP ) to the 1250 fps range without much effort, and from a snubby 66-5. Out of my longer barrel Taurus 608, the same load is getting just over 1300 fps, and still as accurate as can be.

I don't know what that means?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it means he was in the mood to load some .38 Spcl rounds. Just a wild guess though.

I too have a 38 problem, I have 2,000 sized, primed and boxed up cases, 80 pounds of clean lead ingots and a mold fresh in from repair for a broken sprue plate screw... I casted up about a hundred bullets the other , bullets sticking badly in mold, couldnt get temps right, bullets coming out at .364... I got frustrated and gave up. I havent used that mold in over 6 months and Im using a new alloy. Going to do a little work on the mold today and give it another go tonight.

I am running low on loaded .38 Spl myself. I'll have to get to cleaning brass soon.

Yep, me too. Got lots of bullets, powder, primers, and tumbled brass ready to go. But I'm in the middle of moving, so it will have to wait until I get my new reloading room all set up in a few weeks. And I don't need the wife getting on my case about reloading when there is so much packing to be done.

"AAAAhhhhhh"
They're all just mixed in a basket.....

Sorry, my OCD would NOT allow me to do that.
Everything in it's place and a place for EVERYTHING!
Different colors = different calibers

The color thing is a good idea but I keep running out of boxes of a particular color. So, I gave up and rely on the label and the larger box that the full plastic boxes are stored in. "sigh" One of these days I will get better organized.

I have loading sessions planned for several handgun cartridges but other gun stuff keeps getting in the way. :)

Every time I get my stuff out to load up 38 or 357, I end up getting sidetracked by something else. I did manage to pour up a goodly amount of bullets for the task, but they are sitting in a pan awaiting on lube and sizing.

I have however sized and lube a few K of 45 bullets and some others in 41 and 44. Now to get them all stuffed into cases.

I have several hundred fired .38 cases in the shed and probably 300ish inside already tumbled and ready to load.

But I am down to these as far as loaded .38 Spl goes.

I do have a box of 125 Gr lead bullets and a partial box of LHBWCs waiting to load, just nothing lead loaded at this time.
