mississippi open carry

Yeah, but just about every business I have seen thus far has posted a no guns sign (or a no open carry sign). I have pointed out the absurdity to a few businesses (one who said the police were often there. . .except at that moment).

Ash, if you look over the open carry record, those signs generally come down pretty soon, when boycotts of those businesses are implemented and publicized.

All I can say is that I'm doing my part :)

Right now, we're eating store bought pizza on Pizza and Movie Night because Pizza Hut has a sign up.

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone, but the store bought pizza is likely better tasting than that pizza hut crap anyway. ;)

Make sure you send them a copy of the receipt and let them know that you thought the store bought pizza was better than theirs!

I was getting low balled on my trade in when buying a new car once. They were jerks and I let them know it. I went across the street to another dealer and got exactly what I should have on the trade in. The car was bought under the Friends & Family program (a couple cousins of mine build Chryslers) so I got a screamin' deal on it. A fair price for the trade in and the set deal on the new car. That is all I was asking for. Anyway, we drove back over let them know that they missed out on an easy sale.

I do. It has been weeks, and we are such regulars that when we would go in, they knew the order to ring up without our even saying so. The Ace Hardware (which is also selling the signs for others) lost my business, too.

Has the new law clarified what is considered concealed in MS? I believe that it used to say a holster partially conceals a gun, thereby making it concealed. (yes, I know that's stupid, but I do recall that is how it was written)

Does the new OC law extend to non-residents?

I've never heard of a holster partially concealing a firearm making it concealed. I do know that vehicle carry has been law of the land forever.

Yes, the law was rewritten to eliminate the silly double jeopardy of your holster making your firearm "concealed".

Yeah, it's surprising. Piggly Wiggly has no guns (not even CCW), ditto for places already mentioned as well as the convenience store I almost shopped in this morning - I told the lady behind the counter I couldn't keep going there.

no way can you fix stupid but I tried ...have a nice day

Personally I would rather know that a potential adversary was carrying. That way I know what I'm dealing with. Never been a fan of concealed carry due to permits and the ability of all to know I have firearms. If the government had their way none of us would be carrying or owning firearms. I won't give mine up under no circumstances. The less the government knows about me and my possessions the better I feel.

The RKBA has been trampled on enough. How can it be a "right" when I have to get permission? Not gonna beat a dead horse on the basic rights. Is no use. To many gun hating, tree hugging, veggie eating, people who have no pride in their country. Rant rant rant.

I've CC for over 50yrs & live in the Miss. delta & I DON't like OC ....instead of poping a cap in a gang banger at the local juke joint after dark now you're going to see the wild wild west at high noon between gangs...I help out on Fri. & Sat. at a LGS & last Sat. after the news of legal OC we sold out of any kind of OC holster ...95% bought by demorats ...I don't blame the store owners it's kinda rough when 6 or 8 thugs come in the store with anything from a Jennings to a Glock strapped on ...I just make sure they see the .45 on me & don't take my eyes off them ...kind of a stressful work condition...take care

Which is it? Your two statements in bold contradict each other. You CC and don't like open carry, but you make sure they see the .45 on you? Why do you feel the need to show them the .45 on you if concealed carry would be good enough?

"instead of poping a cap in a gang banger at the local juke joint after dark now you're going to see the wild wild west at high noon between gangs".....like in all the other open carry states where this has never happened, but was claimed that it would? You really don't think that gang A knows that gang B is armed and carries guns anyway just because both gang A and gang B are hiding their guns from the cops? Gangster A is going to shoot Gangster B because Gangster B belongs to Gang B...whether Gangster B has his shirt tucked in behind the gun or covering the gun. The color of the doo rag on his head is going to determine much more whether or not he is going to get shot at.

Soooo...buying a holster in your LGS requires one to declare party affiliation?

What you're saying is that you KNOW that 19 out of every 20 customers who bought OC holsters were Democrats. And how do you know this? Just like you know you're going to see the "wild wild west at high noon between gangs"?

I'm all for personal opinions...however, one's credibility with respect to one's personal opinions generally decreases when unsubstantiated claims and contradictory statements are made, especially if they're all made in the same breath.

I am fairly confident that the above poster when saying that "95 percent were Democrat" he was referring to the person's skin color.

I live in Alabama and the term often used is " non swimming Democrats"

Still doesn't negate kendak's contradictary statements that "I've CC for over 50yrs & live in the Miss. delta & I DON't like OC" and yet "I just make sure they see the .45 on me"

So, he's not just stupid, he's a racist too? There's a lot of ignorant in that post.

I hate the way open carriers get treated here. The militant CCers act like anyone else knowing you have a gun will turn the whole world against us.

It's ok for him to OC because he works in a gun store. But he doesn't like black people coming into his store buying holsters for their Hi Points.

I'm just staggered at the ignorance it takes to assume that making OC legal will result in more gang members shooting each other. No one with a functioning brain can actually believe gang members shoot each other because they have guns, not because they're members of rival gangs.

We have to consider the fact he lives in the Delta region, which is an area with extreme poverty and a few pockets of wealth. I still find it hard to believe that he has been carrying for 50 years. I did not think that any state allowed CC 50 years ago, even for cops off duty. I would liken a guess that he wants to see who will respond to his trolling.

I have lived on the MS Gulf Coast almost all of my life and don't even think that the local gangs would think of carry. The police already know most of them by sight and know that they are probably carrying something illegal on them or have outstanding warrants for arrest. The local police are doing a good job of dispensing signs that prohibit carry to just about everyone. I feel ashamed at the cops, but I can't do anything as I live out of town at the moment. I have told many of my friends to do what they can to vote the appropriate people out of office for allowing the police to make and distribute signs. I have also asked one officer why did they choose the phrasing and graphics that they chose when the state explicitly said here is what your sign needs to say. I guess they want to use the trespass statute as it is a good catch-all instead of the violating the sign statute which is a little more restrictive. This all reminds me of the "disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct charges" that were used for years. I hope with enough time and good behavior that the opinions of the local businesses will change and the signs will come down.
