Question about carrying...in the bathroom?

Really good question. If I'm in a stall lay it on my lap. If at the urinal, I unbuckle my belt enough to unbutton my pants, and then rebuckle my belt so it can't slide off the belt, and thus land in the urinal or on the floor.

I just take the gun and holster out (while gun is IN the holster), and set it down on my lap.

I find that the easiest approach is to support the gun with my strong hand until seated, and then rotate the holster clockwise around my leg and fold the belt and pants inward to let it rest in the crotch of my drawers. Wow, that was complicated to say. Easy to do, though.

I do this sometimes.

If it's a small staul though, and I worry that someone on the pot next to me will see it, I hang the firearm from the coat hook on the back of the door. As for forgetting it, I've never understood how that happens.

Either #1 or #2 it stays on my belt. With a good holster and belt, it has never been a problem. Luckily, I live in a State/area where it doesn't matter if it gets seen or not. I don't go out of my way to flaunt it but I don't try to hide it either.

I'm right handed so I remove gun/holster and put them into my left pant leg to the inside of my calf. This position gives me access to the gun in the unlikely event I would need it and there's no chance I will forget it as it has to be removed before I can pull up my trousers.

I thought you were about to suggest using adult diapers to eliminate the scenario entirely.

I pocket carry more often than not, so my primary concern is not letting my pants fall to the floor.

When I carry in a belt holster, I'm with the "leave it in the holster and twist it around" group. I, too, prefer it stays in the holster until the toilet bowl is replaced with the proverbial fan.

Forgot to add:

if I'm in a stall, I just hold the gun in my left hand while I drop a deuce.

Hmm, I do things a little differently because that is how I learned them when I took my CCW class (yes, we covered this!)

First, I pick a stall, usually somewhere in the middle of the line as I hate to be put in a corner. Then, I close the door, and before I sit down, I draw the weapon and hang it on the coat hook by its trigger guard. This is why I like 1911s and other guns with safeties. I then sit down and do my thing, and this allows me not to worry about the gun at all and if someone is going to snatch it under the stall, so I usually spend a few minutes browsing around on my phone just to relax a little. Plus, since the gun isn't in reach, I have no way of playing with it and possibly shooting the toilet bowl or some other insane thing like that. When I'm done, I put myself back together, and when I stand up, I automatically see the pistol and put it back in its holster.

I've only forgotten it a few times, and the local PD has always been kind enough to drive it home to me! That's why I looooove having my guns registered on my CCW card!

Dude...I can usually see the humor in a post...but this comes off as if you are being serious.

Please tell me my "humor meter" is out of alignment. You haven't seriously forgotten your weapon "a few times" yet still think you've got a good system going...please...

#1: unzip, do the deed, zip up. Belt doesn't get touched, holster and gun don't move. Pants stay buttoned and belt stays secure.

#2: taking a wide stance, undo belt, unbutton, unzip, grip gun, holster belt and pants, push down pants retaining grip, sit, flip the gun, holster, etc into the crotch of the pants, do the deed, wipe, reverse order.

Why taking a dump while carrying needs to become an act of engineering I will never understand.

Taking a wide stance is for some US Senators.

Use the handicap stall or the family restroom. That will give you plenty of room to hide the gun.

Get a bag from checkout - put the gun in the bag and on the floor.

If you wear baggy pants, you can fit the gun - even a Glock 19 or 1911 in a big pocket.

Take a whole bottle of Immodium before you go out. Use a Hollow point later to restart the blockage.

You must not have ever watched the TV show "The Big Bang Theory" or otherwise know what the word "bazinga" means.

Bazinga = he is telling us outright that he was joking

You can fit that P238 (I carry the same) in the front or back pocket of just about any pants while you sit and become a new man.

Also echo the above comments (roll the weight onto your lap).

whew!!! :)

Seriously? You didn't read that as a joke? Putting a foreign object in the trigger guard of a loaded firearm, in a public place no less? No one would admit to being so reckless.

If peeing, Leave it in the holster on your belt. Use your zippers.

If going number2, I'd still leave it in the holster and just make sure it stays on the belt and not visible to anyone outside of the stall. Too many times people will leave their gun on the stall if they remove it from the belt/holster as you hear in the news..

Dude...with what I read in the news every day...NOTHING would surprise me.

For instance...I might not have believed this story about a guy smuggling a 10 inch long revolver into prison...but it seems to be real:

Stays in its holster, attached to my belt. When I drop trou, it sits in my pants between my legs. No muss, no fuss - don't even have to touch it.

I remember seeing a story posted about a LEO hanging his 1911 from the coat hook in the bathroom stall and it somehow went off. Probably when he lifted it with his hand on the grip safety. So that story makes it a bad idea if common sense didn't already.

You would be surprised how little someone sees looking underneath stall dividers of the sit down area. Unless someone is leaning down or some other unusual posture, the most that will be seen is to the top of the next stall's sneakers or similar footwear. So unless your firearm is low enough to hang around your shoes when your pants are down, the casual observer is not going to notice.

I learned what's proven to be the best for my rare occasions from BFD here a year or so ago.
Unbuckle belt, drop it below knees, rebuckle tight enough to hold, do your thing.
