Dear THR:
I would like to hear your views on CZ Rami when compared to Glock 26. Which do you prefer and why? Which safer to carry with one in the pipe? I am sure both and cery realiable and accuracy at sub compact pistol range is not much of a factor.

Thanks

I had one and loved it. Never had a glock 26 to compare, but the Rami is a high quality gun. I traded it only because it was the safety only version (no decocker) I like 1911s, I am just not a lock and load carry guy. I would like to get another one but with the decocker. They do not make a model with both decocker and safety, only one or the other.

I prefer the double action first pull for carry. That is just me. I can't really say anything negative about the gun once you get the model you want. For a double stack it carries really well. Never had an issue and shoots to point if aim.

I currently have a beretta PX4 storm sub compact. It is very similar in size to the Rami. It has the safety and decocker which works for me. The rami feels a little less thick and might carry a little bit better but I shoot the beretta better than any subcompact 9 I have tried. The Rami shoot good, but the Beretta shoots great. Low recoil, very accurate.

I felt that the cz was def more easily concealable than the glock, also I just find a cz safer than the other gun mentioned not to begin bashing the most loved gun in the world

Are you uncomfortable carrying a double action (DA/SA) pistol like the RAMI without a safety, or are you uncomfortable lowering a hammer on a live round? I do both with no issues, but that is just me. To me carrying a DA/SA semi auto is similar to carrying a DA revolver. They don't have safeties either, well except for the one between our ears. I carry my CZ with the hammer at half cock, and no safety.

I don't mind carrying a da/sa without a safety as long as i got a decocker to give me that first round DA pull. i don't like carrying with a hammer cocked, safety or not. I know plenty of people do and there is nothing wrong with it, but it is just me. Maybe 100% mental. I like a double action pull in first round.

With guns like the rami which allow a double action pull but no decocker I know I can lower the hammer on the round if I am careful. I did it plenty of times at the range without any issues. Probably be ok lowering it slowly then using the DA pull, but it does post an extra potential risk. With guns like the PX4 storm don't have to worry about being gentle lowing the hammer. I have a decocker.

If I had gotten the Rami decocker model instead of the safety Modek I would probably still have it instead of the beretta. Honestly it was my first CZ and I was mistaken that it was a safety only.

Like I said I would have probably been perfectly happy with the Rami decocker model, but it turns out I ended up with the PX4 Storm and it works for me. I think 1911 guys really need to look into the rami if the have any desire for 13 rds of 9mm. Carrying 13 rds of 9mm in that small a package cocked and locked seems like a good fit

The PX4 Beretta is a great choice, don't get me wrong. However, the RAMI can be carried the same way, and NOT cocked and locked. Like all other CZ's they are made for hammer down DA carry. I don't understand the difference between the CZ, and Beretta except for the decocker on that specific RAMI. You don't need a decocker to safely carry the CZ with the hammer down in DA mode.

I owned a RAMI .40 S&W and I ended up selling it because no matter how many times I sent it back to CZ it had feed issues. I wouldn’t trust that particular gun enough to carry it but I’ve heard that the 9mm version doesn’t have that issue. The RAMI will also accept a 75B magazine thus shortening your supply chain.

Having said that though I think there are better 9mm offerings out there that are just as if not more concealable and with the same magazine capacity. Smith and Wesson’s 910 Model for instance.

Of my gun trades, my trading my Rami for a dang Beretta Cheatah has been the one I have had the most misgivings about. I missed the Rami the first time I pulled the trigger on the Cheatah. I traded looking for something a little more comfortable to carry (don't give me the comforting vs. comfortable stuff) and I thought that I wanted a beretta. My, RAMI (no decocker) was one of my most dependable, most enjoyable pistols to shoot.
I bought my wife a Glock 26 a couple of years ago. I actually like it and to me both would be pretty close on the ability to conceal. I would have no issues carrying either gun from a safety perspective. I carry a PPS.
I eventually traded for a CZ 75B - it is my preferred range gun, only second to my K-frame revolver in terms of accuracy.

I just was personally never comfortable manually lowering the hammer on the rami. Like I said if I had gotten the decocker version I would probably still have it. I know plenty of people lower the hammers on their CZs everyday with no issues. To me it is, at Least, some extra degree of risk in lowering the hammer to put it in DA mode that the decocker eliminates. If a person is confident in lowering the hammer on their CZs great, I wasn't. Just personal preference. Like I said I love the Rami and plan to pick up the decocker model one day

If you do it right [the correct technique], you will not have an issue with lowering the hammer on any gun.

I have had both the Rami and the G26. One I was happy to get rid of and the other I have been kicking myself ever since. The one I regret selling is the Rami. Very well made, sweet shooting, accurate gun. Why did I sell it you ask? Because I was stupid and tried the koolaid, biggest mistake ever.

So - any of you own a 9mm S&W Shield and a Rami? I have a Shield... Was thinking... Rami...

I have a Walther PPS, which is very, very close in size to the Shield. While the PPS is a great carry gun and an OK shooter, the RAMI was a much better gun for the range or perhaps winter carry (where one can conceal a little easier).
I believe the shield has a safety and the PPS does not.
The RAMI is a double-stack firearm and the Shield/PPS are not, so capacity and weight is significantly different.
The two firearms are just not comparable.

I love CZ's more than any gun I own, they just fit my hand and point so naturally. But the G26 is my EDC.

Why?

Weight. The RAMI weighs 25.44 oz vs the G26's 19.75.

At my age ounces might as well be pounds when carrying in a shoulder rig for 8 to 10 hours a day. When I need extra capacity I go IWB with my my CZ P-01.

Single stack anything does not interest me for EDC but the wife carries a PPS. It's been flawless through a thousand or so rounds and I do enjoy shooting it very much.

Agree. Was wondering if anyone fired both. I know the RAMI is heavier, but I have heard it is "blocky" and not a comfortable carry pistol. Shield is pretty thin. Need to find a RAMIO to see how it holds and points.

I've got a Rami 2074 and carried it some this summer. It's all steel however and perspiration was a problem. Gave it a good cleaning and put it away. I'm carrying a Sig P250 in 9mm now.

I tried to like the G 26, but finally decided that striker fired plastic pistols aren't for me. My vote goes to the RAMI. Now, if CZ will make a slim pistol...

yeah, a single stack RAMI. Yep, that would be an interesting firearm. Might give up the Walther PPS for that.

Neat idea. I know Kahr makes a single stack steel 9mm that is probably close to the size of what a single stack Rami would be. Does anyone else?

For those who don't want a DAO pistol [like the Kahr], but want DA/SA, there isn't anything that thin out there.

You know, you are right. All of the new single stack, slim pistols are striker fired, which is essentially DAO. Some do have decent triggers though, but not like the SA on most DA/SA pistols. Well, now that I think about it there is the Sig P938, but that is SA only.

My wife has the first CZ 2075 RAMi to make it west over the Mississippi, and wouldn't give it up for all the tea in China. This was the day we installed the new Hakan Pek grips, shown with the flashlight that exploded later on - long story.

She carries it all the time, sometimes in a fanny pack, sometimes in a Galco purse, and this rig, a High Noon Double Jeopardy IWB rig - great setup.

Note the optional extended 14 round magazine.
Sle loves this gun, which has never choked on factory ammo, (only on my bad first generation reloads), and hits what she aims at.

Compared to a Glock? Different trigger system which she hates, and she thinks the Glock is ugly. I can't comment on aesthetics, but I don't like the Glock trigger mechanism, either.

As for lowering the hammer, the CZ hammer should be lowered to the half cock notch, as shown.

Pilot, . . . yes, the P938 is what I carry now, . . . .but I would give it up in a heartbeat if CZ made a slim Rami type pistol. I prefer the SA of the DA/SA, as you suggested. So until that happens [IF it happens], I'll have to be content with my Sig.
