Depends.


Without restricting my shooting due to ammo availability/cost...maybe 1.5 years with my primary rifle cartridge

This is my store setup.

If my wife wants to bother connecting a camera to the computer and stumbling through these sci-fi alien procedures ('uploading'), will post my row of ammo cans. I have no idea how this works.

I got a chuckle out of that one (LOL). Yes it is, but I reload for 13 different calibers. And that's not counting my 22 LR, 22 Mag & 12 Gauge. You would need a very very wide screen monitor if i pulled it all out from the different storage places to take a picture.(LOL)

No pics here but trust me, I have thousands of rounds. Getting close to 10's of thousands.

No photos of my stash, but 4 .50 cal boxes of 7.62x39 as well as 2 full sealed cases and a 100 rd 20mm case full of S&B on stripper clips (2200 rds). 2 plywood boxes 12" x 12" x 24" full of .22 ammo, 3 .50 cal boxes full of .22 ammo, 10 more .50 cal boxes with various rifle and pistol ammo, a 20 mm ammo box full of 12 ga, and another plywood box (same size as the others full of 20 ga.

I just picked up 5000 rounds of American Eagle .22 ammo locally for $289.00

Me? I am doing just fine. My stash was every bit of 20 rounds of ammunition. However, I went to the range last week and shot one round. Since I do hand load and roll my own I will easily get this pile of 19 rounds back up to a full 20 but I always wait till I have at least two cases to load so the experience is worth it. So yes, I am in real good shape here with 19 loaded rounds and one piece of brass awaiting reloading.

I have this old photo that I took for a "guns and ponies" thread on ARFcom. Seems like the appropriate time to break it out again.



That's approximately 1,000 rounds each of .40, 12 gauge, and .223.

Unfortunately, all I got is about 400-ish rounds of .22lr (lead, so I can't shoot it in my AR conversion kit), and 38 rounds of .44 magnum. That one box of PMC .44 mag cost me $38 + tax. :/

I can send you a couple pieces of brass that I found at the range. They are pretty dirty but that will increase your stash by 10% if my calculations are correct. They will have to be tumbled and loaded of course but I like to help out where I can! -Andy

These threads are always humorous for me as ammunition is all over heck's half acre around here. While I admire those who know exactly what they have down to a single round I haven't a clue, nor do I really care.

Cabela's had a good deal on 7.62 X 51 a short time ago. Wife wanted winter slippers for herself and Christmas gifts. I had 20 boxes of Winchester white box 308 (7.62 NATO) shipped to the Cabela's in Columbus. This weekend we will swing down and get the stuff. God knows how many En Bloc clips of 30-06 and 7mm-08 I have stashed around here for my Garands? When I see a good deal on ammunition or loading supplies I buy it. Then when things go south as we can all bet on I am not caught short.

Heck, .22 Rimfire? This is a small sampling I did some time ago. It includes no shortage of .22 Match ammunition. Running short of anything is the last thing on my little mind right now. Outliving my supplies is of more concern and on the off chance I croak my brother will be a grateful and happy camper.



I am also butt deep in powder, brass, bullets and primers. No shortage of components around here.

I have given my brother about 1,000 rounds of assorted 9mm ammunition. Likely because I don't even own a 9mm gun. I still have 9mm. Shotgun? Bunch of that also and I haven't owned a shotgun in 15 or more years.

Again, the guns are in the safe and the ammunition is everywhere with no central location. Beats the heck out of me.

My setup looks pretty similar to SuedePflow's, also partial. I never bothered to really take stock of what I had until the early 2013 panic started, at which time I realized that I was "in a good place" in terms of .223 but extremely low on 9mm plinking ammo. After resupplying to the point that I could maintain and even increase my range visits without getting low, I started keeping an actual inventory and labeling ammo cans.

Last night, I sorted all my ammo, miscellaneous shooting supplies and outdoor gear. The ammo was pretty well organized, but as far as the rest is concerned . . . well, I have a lot of wool socks and flashlights I'd forgotten about!

Everyone has their own method. I simply prefer the file by pile system. I figure when I check out for the big range in the sky Kathy can worry about it. Works for me anyway.

20k .22lr doesn't take up that much space.

Are you using an 8 year old camera phone with a cracked lense?

don't have a camera phone.....i have close to 80k in all of everything else....+ no count of powder and primers....as i said camera not wide enough....

You can certainly be an active participant of this thread without posting a photo of every round of ammunition you possess.

I'm sure we'll get by with however much you can fit in frame.

Miscalculated and put a ton in my row boat. It's somewhere at the bottom of Lake Mead. Same place I lost my pallet of guns.

I want them too... the should know what we have.. so they know what theyre getting into if they ever decide to come knocking asking for the contents of my safe!

I can appreciate the sentiment, however, that's not how "they" work. Anyone who waited till you were home to come knock on your door and give a chance to use that ammo, would have very little tactical sense. For better or worse, the "high risk warrant" types of guys are pros. If they want you, you'll never have a chance for all that "stand a fight," "take a few with me," "die on the front lawn in a hail of gunfire" type of machismo talk. Now, to keep this on course, since it's not my intention to drift the thread and get it locked...

I bought a bunch of cans of 7.62x39 back when it was like $80 for a 700 round tin of the stuff and have that stashed. It's all that Golden Tiger stuff that was considered pretty good. Also grabbed a bunch of 440 round tins of x54r when they were cheap as well. So most of my core stock is commie surplus. A few thousand of this and another few thousand of that.
My other big stash is .38spl/.357mag. I've managed to nab a good amount of the stuff over the years, but the problem is, I also shoot a lot of it so it's tough to keep a good supply. Bummer! Although now that my wife has gotten into shooting, and she has her Speed Six and LCR to practice with, I'm just as happy to run through my supply, because any time she's getting trigger time, it can only be a good thing!

Of course, I have probably ~3k .22lr, but honestly, i think of .22LR like I do salt and pepper, or a broom, or extra batteries. .22LR is a household necessity. Not ammo.
