ordered & received 6k 55gr .224 Hor. sp bulk ...my figures come up with 47lbs. less cardboard box but shipping invoice has 56lbs ..think a heavy box weighs 9lbs ?...now need to break them down to store in 500rd boxes ...what kind of box or plastic ? ..any ideas ?...thanks

Tupperware? I would just go to my local "Box Office" or UPS store and buy the same kind of small heavy duty cardboard boxes that 500 count bulk bullets come in. When I repack them I also put them in heavy duty zip lock bags, then in the cardboard boxes.

500 55 gr. .223 easily fits in a box 2 x 4 x 4 inch. That is 32 cubic inches, which is about a pint. That should give you an idea of the container size. I've been buying the clear plastic food storage containers for most of my reloading supplies. Some have mysteriously disappeared from the kitchen cabinets. :D

They sell these containers at Walmart for about $1.50. Larger sizes are a bit more. I have several that I keep brass, even loaded ammo in.

+1 for the Walmart locking top containers. I use a lot of those. They're my favorite since the tops lock. I also have some smaller locking ones I got from The Container Store. They have a bunch of great containers.

found some plastic 1 pint containers in wm now what do I need to pack with them to keep them in good shape ?

I just pour them directly into a plastic container then dip them out with a small box as needed. My hands touch the stored bullets when doing this, but I've not had any problems with the finish of the bullets.

FYI, search the box well for bullets. Bulk bullet boxes typically have (baffles?) splitting the storage area into four or more chambers. I cut the box apart and usually find several more bullets stuck in there.

Just shop around for boxes...I know plastic ones can be obtained in a large number of places in all kinds of sizes and methods of fastening lids.

Google "plastic boxes" and see what comes up.
