I went to a doe hunt this weekend where the limit was 2.
The second day, after a really rainy night, I got in the climber and went 22 ft. up a pine. About 5 minutes after daybreak a turkey gobbler flew out of the tree next to me followed shortly by 3 more in other trees within 20 yards.
About 10-15 minutes later, I saw 3 deer approaching. A yearling was in the lead followed by two does. They stopped and I shot the first doe. She ran about ten yards and fell over. I quickly got on the second one which had run into a pine stand but was visible while standing angling away. I shot her and she ran about five yards and collapsed. It was only about 30 minutes after daylight and I was limited out.

I decided to try to drag them both out on my deer cart in one trip.

I rigged up a tree stand harness to the cart and dragged them like a mule in the traces.

Nice deer and Very nice deer hauler , but I have a question, what rifle, what round and what bullet?

I love the harness idea! I got one of those carts for Christmas last year. I'm gong to set that up. I'm after a doe this coming weekend, maybe I'll get to try it out.

Nice job on the does. Yummy!

They want a live weight at the check station for this hunt. They also take the jawbone and head. The head is to check for CWD.

Good hunt! Sounds like fun, though I never liked the idea of a climbing stand, but then, I don't have a straight tree around here. :D

Did you have to break out the toilet paper after that? :D

Win. Model 70 Fwt. in .257 Roberts AI with 100 gr. Nosler Partitions.

Well, you picked one of my all time faves, though I shoot a 100 grain Game King in mine.

What were the live weights?I spend winters in FL but never hunted there.

Are you allowed to bleed em out? Forgive the question, I've never gotten to do any big game hunting yet. But I recall hearing somewhere along the way that you should always bleed an animal ASAP, or the meat won't taste as good.

Solid hunt though, great job.

With good shots like that, the bullet has done all the bleeding that is required. You can tell by the way they're laying like that;)

Nice job!!! Sucks about the live weight though. Nothing like having to deal with carrying extra weight by yourself!!!

I need to add my experience.

After an absence of 34 years from the hunting field and not having shot a rifle in over 31 years we were invited on a "corporate hunt" by a supplier. I was not keen to shoot for two reasons, the first was that I doubted if in fact I could shoot, and the second was that I was still undecided about hunting (long story).

So roughly 2.5 years ago we go to an farm that is basically open prairie. We get taken to the range and we each get a shot to see if we can shoot, I have my suppliers Ruger M77 30-06 I think it was and I get close enough to the bull to qualify to hunt.

It is the end of the season and the animals have been hunted agrressively and are are skittish. We cannot get near them, neither of vehicle nor by foot. We decide to set me up in a blind (personally hate this, but that is for another discussion). The bling however happens to be a disused round corrigated iron water tank which has has openings cut into it.

Eventually the Blesbok come into range and my supplier, a seasoned hunter picks out a ewe for me. We do that here as we pay for all our game, if wounded we still pay recovered or not and so he glasses while I shoot to see what is going for what.

They are at 190 yards and I take a bead on the selected ewe and the shot rings out. I see her lurch backwards as if she is about to sit. The suppliers says in an urgent fashion, "Quick at the extreme right of the herd there is another ewe". So instinctvely I take aim and pin her behind the shoulder as well, she also looks like she want to sit.

I am worried about the first one and ask if I must take a follow up shot. He says no and just as he says so she drops, I glance back to the second one and she too is now down. The entire process could not have taken more than 5 seconds, it matter not however.

That got me returned to hunting and two and a half years later I know have 4 rifles, a shotgun and a 9mm SD weapon. Not to mention all the relaoding paraphanalia.

I owe my supplier a debt of gratitude for re-introducing me to the pleasures and joys of hunting and shooting.

Really cool hunting story!
I just guided a couse deer hunt out here back in Nov.. I glassed up three bucks for two shooters, husband and wife. They were a good 1-1/2 to 2 miles away. I guided with radio / ear buds and got them within about 100 yds, and the best part is I got to see them hit the ground, but didn't hear the gun shots for a good long time, if was so cool. I saw fur fly out of the first one, and then he hit the ground, then the second one about 10 seconds later.

Hunting northern MI one year
We were driving a field with about 5 men & one 13 year old kid with his win 94.
Two doe jumped up about 20 yards in front of us.
This 13 year old dropped both deer in about 2 seconds.
He said ""GEE DAD--THIS HUNTING IS SO SIMPLE --WE SHOULD COME BACK UP HERE NEXT YEAR""
This kid was lucky someone didn't hang him.

Last year, last day of hunting season I saw a deer crossing a field. The field was covered in broom sedge about 3 or 4 feet tall. I shot that one only to see about 4- 6 jump up and start running. I got a total of 3 in less than 10 seconds. The limit for does in TN is 3/day where I was hunting. The rifle was a model 70 Winchester in .270 with 130 gr. Sierra pro hunter bullets over 60 gr. of 780 Supreme.

image.jpg Was this your first double? If so it's a pretty awesome feeling when you text or call your buddies. Shot my 3rd double this year. 2 old does within 10 seconds. I only archery hunt deer so it's a lot quieter than rifle hunting. Not sure if that makes it easier or harder other than the range. But it sure is fun.... The bottom doe looks like I put a bad shot on her. I didn't. Went in the short ribs. Came out left front shoulder. Neither went 30 yards. Congrats on YOUR double.

i got a nice double on does this year. two neck shot does in about 30 seconds.very little meat loss, i like that.

a couple years ago i did a triple with a muzelloader. 3 deer within a few minutes.what made it interesting is that i actually missed on the first shot and had two misfires where the cap did not go off. i have since tuned that rifle up and with a 209 conversion kit it shoots much better.

Nice work, plenty of meat in the freezer.I got a double on does in Florida before I moved out west a few years back.Which WMA were you hunting on.I got my last, and best,Florida buck at Rock Springs Run,he actually made the Florida Buck Registery.

Two deer in a five seconds? Big deal. A few years ago a friend got 7 in a split second without firing a shot, 20 minutes later he got 2 more without a shot. His company wasn't thrilled since the Kenworth had less than 500 miles on it. The funny thing is in over 30 years of driving he'd never hit even one deer or elk and in one night he got nine. BTW, he retired a few years later and never hit another critter. This guy wasn't even a hunter. Be careful when driving at night in western Montana.
