I went to open my beloved Kershaw Blur yesterday, and a weird sound came out of it. Now my speed safe doesn't work. Bleh.

No big deal, as it appears that Kershaw has a easy to fill out warranty repair form, and I am not anticipating any major expenses. In fact, since I am sending the Blur in for repair, I think I am going to send my Leek in for factory resharpening.

I am not really all that worried about the process, but out of curiosity, anyone ever sent a knife in to Kershaw for repair? How did that go? Are they more interested in repairing, or do they just replace? I don't honestly care either way, but I am curious.

Sucks your knife broke. I broke a brand new Manix 2 a couple days ago. Spyderco states they don't replace blades so I can't get it repaired.

No experience sending a knife back to Kershaw, but I did take a Leek there in person. They had it fixed in a few minutes. One of the minor benefits of living within an hour of Kershaw, Gerber, CRKT, Lone Wolf, Benchmade, Leatherman and Leupold.

My Blur's torsion bar broke a couple of years ago. But it was my fault, as it broke while I was mindlessly fidgeting with it and slowly closing it by putting pressure on the spine of the blade against a mouse pad while I was deep into reading something on my computer. It's meant to be open and closed, not forced into a half closed position which puts too much pressure on the torsion bar. User error...

Anyway, I thought I would just take the knife apart and replace the torsion bar myself. Dumb move - tiny parts everywhere. I took it into Kershaw and they fixed it, re-assembled it from my pile of parts, and sharpened it, all in about 15 minutes while I grabbed lunch. Detailed report here in a thread I started years ago:

Long story short, GREAT customer service.
