The Turkish guns are very high quality ,and are mostly based on the CZ 75. But at a very low price. Look at some of the reviews on some of the websites .

They are good guns with a good rep.

I have the Canik55 Stingray-C. I bought it as a gun to throw in my bug out bag because it was so inexpensive, but it stands on its own merits as a fine, front line carry weapon. It is essentially a CZ75 Compact. The workmanship is very good; I dare say the machining is a little nicer than what you see on the CZs. Mine is the satin chrome plated version, and the finish has held up well. It's very accurate - surprisingly so. I frankly have nothing bad to say about it, aside perhaps from the somewhat clunky looking chamber indicator atop the slide. I paid someone $10 for some rubber take-off grips from a CZ75 Compact and have left the rest of it alone. An all around fine weapon that would be Avery good deal at $500, let alone $325 - $350.

I have a C100 and it is a great pistol, no problems at all. I use cZ Compact magazines (MecGar) in it as well.

Some of the fire control parts won't interchange with CZ. Cajun gun works have aftermarket springs and a hammer for them.

I've got more rounds through it now but haven't been keeping track. Probably somewhere around 1,000.

I actually looked at a couple today. I handled three different guns, the full sized tan colored pistol and two compacts-one with the full length dust cover and the other that looks like a CZ75B. All three appeared to have aluminum alloy frames.

Does Academy carry an all steel version (full sized and compact)? The sales clerk didn't seem to know.

Crunchy Frog-- AFAIK, the Caniks all have steel slides and alloy frames.
Makes the Caniks a few ounces lighter in the compact size.

Four acquaintances I shoot with have Caniks in full-size and compacts. IMO, the Canik triggers are at least and prob better than my CZ75's out of the box..less gritty w/out having to send 300-400 rnds. downrange b/f smoothing out like my CZ's.

Good reports on the Caniks from many CZ shooters, incl. myself. Very good pistols for $330!

Canik makes a steel framed version (S120) also but Academy doesn't carry it. It's a Bud's exclusive I believe. The only ones Academy has are the aluminum framed ones as far as I know.

Right, the reason I didn't mention it was because I was specifically talking about the CZ75B style models. The Stingray is a bit different, although also an excellent option.

The local Academy here in South Carolina does indeed carry the S120, and at the same price as the L120.

Interesting. I wonder why the difference between locations? Why stock the steel framed gun in one place and only the aluminum framed ones at another. Odd marketing choice. I'd buy either one though, my Canik is amazingly good and so is the price tag.

I believe SC has/had melting point laws at one time as a Saturday-Night-Special deterrent. The frame of a gun had to withstand a certain temperature to meet the criteria to be sold. Excluded zamac frames. We are also able to get the all steel heritage .22 revolvers here because of it. It may have elapsed by now.

I have a Tristar C-100 and, having owned several CZ-75/85 variants, I'd say it's every bit the CZ's equal. I like being able to drop the safety at any hammer position (fully down/half cock/fully cocked) and the alloy frame on the C-100 and the "L" versions of the pistol make them extremely manageable. I did get the Cajun Gun Works spring set, which makes a good pistol even better. The CGW hammer and adjustable seat is my next venture. Prices will probably start to go up soon if they haven't already.

I bought the c100 a few weeks back. For $330 I just couldn't pass it up. I was looking for a cz75 compact. But what I liked about the Tristar was the lightweight frame, and of course the price. This thing has a better fit and finish than my full size cz75. It is a sweet shooter all around and works fine for CC. It is not much more heavy than my Glock 19 and about the same size. It is such a great gun for $330. I plan to buy more tristar models in the future.

It is amazing but I agree, the fit and finish are both better on the Tristar. The trigger is also better on the Tristar straight out of the box.

My CZ75B is an excellent pistol and it has always functioned very well but the C100 has also functioned perfectly and costs about $150-$200 less.

My friend has a Canik s120 (I think that's the model number), it looks pretty much identical to a CZ-75, and the TriStar T120, which looks like a CZ SP-01. These are both great guns. I want both of them, and one of these too:

I had mentioned that Academy here in Upstate SC had the S120, but last time I was there is was not under the counter. Nor was the L120. I'm hoping that they just ran out of stock, and there will be more soon. I'm currently debating which model I should get in the next few weeks...

The T120 is currently on sale for $349, but I'm not diggin' the desert tan color with the black grips. I've also heard the T100 and T120 don't use CZ sights, which could be an issue down the road. I think I want the S120 (also $349), as I prefer all steel guns, but if it is no longer available, I'm not quite sure which way to go. Should I get the T120 and krylon the grips OD green? Go for the T100?

I'm open to thoughts on this matter (that is, which Tristar/Canikk should I get from Academy Sports - can't afford a Glock). Leaning more towards a full-size, but mid-size isn't out of the question...

I would just buy the model you want the most over the net and have it shipped to the local dealer with the cheapest transfer fee instead of patiently waiting for the big box store to pick up on it.

I plan to get a big o'l steel model to complement my compact lightweight c-100. I still think these guns are some of the best deals on pistols in today's market.
