Compare Glock 42 to XD

Not many people own or have owned Glock 42s yet since they were released a couple of weeks ago...:scrutiny:

Glock 42 is a thin mint .380 while the XD in its smallest form feels like brick in comparison. (Also not available in .380).

I think you meant XD-S the thin Springfield in 9mm or 45.

IMHO the Glock 42 is too big for me to be a pocket gun. I prefer my Kahr 380 for that, but the XDS in 45 is my favorite IWB pistol.

I have two 45 XDS and a G42.

Comparing them is almost comparing Apples and Oranges.

The XDS is almost a half inch longer and about a quarter inch higher

The XDS is a lot heavier and a lot wider then the light weight G42. For me, the XDS is way too big and heavy for pocket carry.
I've been pocket carrying the G42 since I got it.

Both guns are VERY accurate and will easily empty the magazine in one jagged hole at 10 plus yards.
I like the Glock sights.

The XDS is a major caliber and shoots like one.
The G42 is a minor caliber with very little recoil. What might be called a "ladies gun" (although my lady friends shoot 9mm and 45ACP).

It has a good trigger. (I hate Glock triggers)

Although I have four Glocks, 19, 26, 33 and now 42, I am not a Glock fan, but I do like the G42.
I have another G42 on order.

I don't/won't ever own a .380. Do own some Glocks and like 'em a lot. Carry a G26 daily. Glock triggers are a lot easier to make better than are XD triggers. (and easier than just about any other brand, too.)

May like One of the XD's

Apples and Oranges, impossible to compare other than one is smaller. Which Xd are you even comparing it to, they make so many models 3.3, 3.8,4.5, 5.25, Tactical, Compact, Sub Compact, etc.
There is a chart I found for you here, http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/general-sa-xd-xd-m-talk/229498-confused-about-different-xd-models.html.
Good luck
Thanks. I don't like Glocks, but think I might like Springfield XD's, probably smaller 9mm or compact .45. The chart is a start. Although, I'm waiting to see how the Remington R51 turns out. I know they are quite different, but we'll see.:)

I own a Glock G26 and have a new G42. I shot the XD-S in .45 and 9mm last Summer when my Wife and I were evaluating everything we could shoot looking for our concealed carry preferences.

The XD-S is a very fine pistol but it's not much like a G42 - Even the calibers are different with the Glock 42 being .380 and the XD-S being a 9mm. The difference is in the recoil and "feel" of the two guns.

Really? Apples and Oranges. Both are excellent but they are not really comparable pistols.

VooDoo

I bought the 45 XDS............just because.
I didn't think I was going to like it much.
I have the Nano, 9mm and 40 S&W Shield and Ruger LC9 and a couple others.

I was surprised that I liked the XDS so much I bought a second one.

I have had the Glock 42 several weeks now and put over 500 rounds through it. It is accurate and easy on the hand. I have some arthritis in my hand and no discomfort. It shoots fast if needed.I have had good accuracy at about 13 yards. It is flat and carries well in ones pocket.Have put a variety of brands through it and Tennessee Arms ammo appears to be a bit underpowered. All else including reloads were flawless. i found the magazines very quick to drop and put a new one in.

They look a lot alike to me, but never owned or handled either. Please share your expertise .:)
There are many better alternatives to G42 like: PPS, XDs, Shield, P290, Ruger LC9,..... Unless Glock employees start thinking "outside the box" I don't foresee buying one of their guns anymore. I'm very satisfied with two G20s I own, but unless I see something truly useful I will not be infected by "Glock Fanboy Syndrome'. Contrary to what some of them think there is more to handguns then the so called 'Glock Perfection'.

Best XD carry ?

What are the least heavy choices for XD, especially 9x19mm? Would consider .380 or 9x18mm if much more advantageous. Thanks:)
Ditto for 2-10-14 request, please. The XD line is new to me. What is the lightest, most dependable, 9mm XD? Are they all steel ? Any info appreciated.:)

?? You know they're not all steel, right? The whole XD line are polymerpistols. Some call them plastic. They have steel barrels.

XD's & Glock

Ok, the XD line does look a little Glockish, but the XD's appeal to me more. Until I shoot both, I won't be able to judge their worth.
