Yes.
This is a lot of gun for the money. A friend bought one a few weeks ago after a range test.
Trigger is on the heavy side but very smooth double action. Heavier than Khar. The gun has a stronger recoil sensation than an M&P Shield (both in 9mm). Ejection is very positive if not down right authoritive. This could effect the recoil sensation but I can't say for sure. It is noticeable to me.
It's also thicker than the Shield but that's no big deal as it easily handles 2-3 more rounds. It fits the Galco 29L IWB holster made for the M&P Compact.
A target/ range gun it ain't but for what it is; a low cost carry piece it definitely out paces Keltec by a mile. Fit and finish is good. Excellent when you consider price. This one was $268 OTD.

Mags are difficult to find, as are aftermarket sights (factory are basic white dot, I just glow painted them. Otherwise I like it. 12 rounds of 9mm in a small package that is not at all expensive. Mine worked out of the box w/o any need for fluff and or buff like some competitors...

I personally don't, but Hickock45 seems to like it. Good review here (though it runs a little long; it's good watching, if only for the backyard-range jealousy factor!)

LGS brought 4 of them and said all of them had problems with the manual safety. For about the same amount of money you can buy a CZ-82 with two 12 rd. Magazines. The CZ-82 is a rugged, time tested design with the option of double action or cocked and locked.

The CPX 2 that I have tried has no external manual safety. It doesn't need one either.

All the same, If you have managed to make it fire it would be due to deliberate intent.

BSA1, the SCCY CPX-2 has no manual safety.

Maybe the shop to which you refer had the CPX-1 models (which did), and the deletion of the safety was part of SCCY's response to the issue.

The sccy cpx-2 has one of the best triggers for a double action only that I've ever shoot

One of the squad leaders in my unit has one. He really likes it and picked it up on a splurge for the price, about $225 OTD. Might pick one up for myself because everyone likes a single stack.

I didn't like it. the trigger was too far forward from the grip and it was the worst recoiling 9mm me or my wife have ever shot. she wouldn't shoot it but 3-4 times and then she was in pain. she shoots her s&w bodyguard 380 all the time 2-3 boxes at a time with no problems too.

I liked the trigger a little better than her bodyguard though....

Surprisingly good for the money....my father has one.

No, its a single stack like the Kel Tec P9 that it was cloned after.

Hickok45 did a video with one. He found it unreliable.

I have a CPX-1. Bought it for 200.00. Bigger then a Kel tec but was made to look similar. Had an issue with the frame pins comming out . Sent it back to the manufacturer and they fixed the pin problem and disabled the safety feature. No questions asked. Got it back and shot 50 rds thru it and it worked just fine. Fits in a pocket or an IWB OWB holster no problem. It will do the job I feel. You really dont want to shoot a ton thru it because it will hurt after awhile. short barrel gun ..what do you expect. Resale value is not great but I think they get a bad rap..

You must be thinking of a different gun. The SCCY CPX-2 is a double-stack (holds 10 rounds in the standard mag) that is indeed much closer to the Kel-tec P11 than the PF9.

My mistake then. Sure felt like a single stack though. That is what I get for not double checking before hand.

Still might pick one up though.

USAF_Vet, it also has a "true" DAO mechanism, unlike the hybrid-DA one of the Kel-Tec PF9.

I like that it comes with two magazines, and different floor plates for each (flat, and fingertip-extension.)

I want to buy her a nice pistol but need to keep the cost as low as I can.

I have been considering a Bersa Thunder 380,,,
I have one that she has fired and liked,,,
But I would rather buy her a 9mm,,,
Ammo is better and cheaper.

Everything I have read says the CPX-2 is the best way to go,,,
I just wish I knew someone with one I could test fire,,,
So far I haven't seen one at my Rifle & Pistol club.

If it were just for me,,,
I would buy one just to test out,,,
But since it's a college graduation gift,,,
I really want it to be reliable out of the box.

But the CZ82 is a 9x18 not 9mm (9x19) which is much closer to a .380ACP than a 9mm, and is a significantly larger & heavier pistol. Although its certainly a great buy.


I've no experience with SCCY, but more reliable versions of the interesting Kel-Tec designs would be welcome. I know I trust my Ruger LCP a lot more than my P3AT.

But no doubt about it, the CPX-1 had issues, enough that I never bothered to try one.

No matter how good the customer service is, I'd prefer to not use it at all. I've had way too much good customer service from Kel-Tec.


Rumor mill alert: one of the principals of SCCY used to work for Kel-Tec and went off on his own after his ideas for improvements were ignored.

Aarondhgraham, I'd get your friend that Bersa. She's shot one and liked it, and there's little question that the Bersa will run for her.

The SCCY CPX2 has a pretty good reputation for reliability. The only problems I've heard about were with the CPX 1 with a manual safety and the second gen CPX1 has an extended molding near the safety that has corrected this issue.

The CPX2 lacks a manual safety like the majority of DAO pistols. They're also a good option if you want to carry a double stack DAO .380 in the P11's format since Kel Tec doesn't make the P11 in .380acp.

They're not bad at all from what I've heard and seen. There are also plenty of favorable reviews on Youtube.

The SCCY pistols are available only in 9mm Luger.

One in .380 would be a good contender, though, against guns like the Ruger LC380.

I have two of the SCCY-CPX1's in the family. I load and shoot full tilt jacketed through them, both have performed flawlessly, and they're quite accurate as well. I would personally recommend them.
