What's your "never buy" gun?

Well, here's a classic example of what 72 pages and more than 5 years of posts has wrought:
And of course, nothing further. Typical of most of the posts in this thread.

I guess what I'm asking is, what's the point?

The point is to answer the question...and this person did. For whatever reason, he/she does not want to own any Taurus.

If you look at post #1650, I've my own entry. Granted, it's a wee bit more explanatory than what you've cited, but still...

Lot's of posts are more complete than the one you cited as a typical example. Take 'em for what their worth, whatever that may be.

Besides...good or bad posts, it's not as if people are actually going to read through all 1800 posts at this point. Skim through it a little bit and move on.

Better yet...post something of your own so we can see what it is YOU would never buy.

;)

Any glock I do not like them don't want one around the house ..there are most probably a hundred pistols worse that I will not even look at .. I don't know who makes them but as a rule if it looks like a glock I will not even pick it up at a show to see how it feels .

Never buy a Hi-Point.

I should start a "never sell" thread, LOL! NEVER sell a Stevens 22/410 over and under, especially one from the 60's!

Anything that says Taurus on it.

I own a Sig P220, a S&W 629, an XDm, a Ruger, and a Taurus PT-145. Quite possibly the Taurus is the best handgun of the bunch. I realize they have spotty quality but sometimes they hit it out of the park. I've shot probably 5000 rounds (.45 auto) though the Taurus and it has never failed to function even once. It's way more accurate than it should be for the short barrel it has. It holds 10 rounds in the mag with a thickness of the handle of under 1.25". It handles extremely well especially on multiple rounds. Double taps are a breeze. I've got to the point where I could put 11 rounds in a pie plate size target in 8 seconds from 20 yards.

It's an excellent firearm IMO. Yes I've seen bad guns from Taurus. But never say never.

Wow, just one?
1. Glock.
2. Beretta.
3. USP.
4. Colt 1911. (t.f.m.money!)
5. HK, once they entered pistol sales.

I'll never buy

Any gun that comemorates a person place or thing. Even if it is a Winchester.

Elmer Keith's H&H 577 double even if it was for sale.... Couldn't afford it.

A shotgun with a poly choke barrel or any bolt action shotgun.

Any revolver or pistol that has a 45 plus number next to the word 'magnum'

A 50 BMG...

An 8 mm Remington magnum"..... Any Remington magnum for that matter.

A pink AR..... Unless it was mil spec of course.

A Norinco copy of a Winchester 97

Anything made in France. Belgium gets a pass.

A 1911

A daisy VL22

A Remington 710/ 770... 783

An over priced AK... Which means every AK I've seen in the last 10 years.

A .410 revolver

DB 9mm. You'd be better off with a slingshot.

A Glock 42 along with most of the #30's and especially a Gap 45.

A Sig 238/ 938.... No thank you.

PPK....

That Robar thing...

Tavor, PS90, FS2000

That's all I can think of at the moment.

anything Spanish; Star 9mm. Anything Chinese. Anything plastic (Glocks). I will never buy that /Barret Lite 50 w/10 rd box magazine that i have always lusted after (kinda like that 57 chevy i always wanted). Oh well:p or Bill Jordan's .357 (just kidding)

So, i bought a Ruger Model 77 in .220 Swift Cal., excited at the probability the "highest velocity" round in the world (4,000 fps) would be accurate. None of the factory ammo gave me better than 6" groups: sold it. Pshaw! Lever action guns are the same for me -hate 'em! Had a Rem. pump action 30-06 that would drill 10 cent size groups at 100 yd.s all day. God i miss that gun!

I've been enjoying reading the backend of this thread from 08. :) Several posters mentioned avoiding Desert Eagles. When I was a high school student in the mid eighties, I had the pleasure of gophering after school for Col. George M. Chinn Jr. When the Desert Eagles first appeared, Col. Chinn had one in his office looking it over. Impressed with the size and weight of the thing, I asked what he thought of the design. His response bears repeating: "If it WERE designed, it would be half the size and a third the weight."

What a grand old man he was. :)

Heh! Funny!

But it is a well designed gun whose size and weight is dictated (by design) due to the gas action and rotating bolt design. The purpose of that design was to create a semi-automatic pistol capable of handling cartridges that, up until then, were dominated by revolvers. The size and mass are necessary evils to accomplish this, whatever the design.

Take a good look at the approximate weights of any similar, large magnum pistol, for example:

Desert Eagle, 6 inch barrel: 71 ounces (4.4 lbs)
Wildey, 5 inch barrel: 4 lbs
.44 Automag, 6.5 inch barrel: 3 lbs, 9 ounces
Taurus 608 revolver with 8 inch barrel: 3.6 lbs

I'm done with Ruger.

2 pistols and one 1022T rifle, even after multiple send-backs, were not up to my standards,
which are Must Go Bang Every Time...Must Be Reasonably Precise...Must Not Hurt Me...
pretty simple standards...easy to deal with

Berreta 92fs. Must of got the one quality control fell asleep, and let go by. When it was new in the box, the rear sight was half way drifted out the dove tail slot... Took it back to my gunstore, the boys fixed it. Took it to the range for testfire, at 7 yards it grouped like buckshot.

I called the range master over, let him take a few shots, and he confirmed it was me that was grouping all fked up.

One night i was drinking beer with a guy that i knew, he leans over and says " ill trade my Colt 1911 .45 for your Berreta!" I looked at him and said, you know its a boat anchor and you still wanna trade? He says "yes." I brought it over the next night, we did the trade, i then ran out of his house with my new series 70 1911A1 before he could change his mind!

For my personnal use it would be an AR of any style, I just think they are ugly and over priced. For trade or resale would be open to anything. Jim

I have to question a bunch of the above posts. For me though, a "B" shotgun. As nice as they are, for the money they are not much better than a gun 1/3 it's price. I also will never buy another Henry rifle. One shot through my boot between my toes is enough...which brings me to the rest of the guns with no safety and no decocker.
