Arizona Urgent! Anti-gun group in Phoenix to influence Brewer! Tomorrow Mar 26 2014


I saw this at open carry.org Moms Demand Illegal Mayors will be at the State Capitol in Phoenix tomorrow March 26 2014 between 11 am and stay till 3 pm according to the site. "Address is: 1700 W. Washington St. Phoenix, AZ 85007" The site suggests that Bloomberg's money is behind this.

"Tomorrow at the state house Mom's demand action will be onsite demanding that some pro 2A bills be vetoed by Governor brewer. In addition they will be lobbying members of the legislature too.

If at all possible please go down to the capital and show your support for freedom!"

I would have posted this earlier, but I just saw this. Those of you who live in Arizona and especially in Phoenix need to show up in numbers tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I'll definitely call tomorrow. However, if they want to spend/waste Bloomberg's money to try to sway Jan Brewer, then I'm fine with it. She's not going to change her mind either way.

I like all those laws. BUT why in theyre right mind would "mothers" want to fight the second one? They approve of criminals using your gun against you!? Brain does not compute. Liberal misfire.
 
I found the press releases if anyone is interested. Looks like someone came up with money for buses from Tucson. Wonder if Gabby and Bloomberg are behind all of this.

House Bill 2517 sounds like a winner w/ the fine and requirement to use their on money in court.

Yeah.... even if passed (not likely), that one won't last very long on court appeal. Suing elected gov't officials for doing their job (passing laws) is not going to fly. Whoever submitted that bill knows it, but likes all the pro-gun publicity they are going to get from it.

If I am not mistaken, the email address in this sentence is a University of Arizona e-mail address. I wonder, are faculty and employees of U of A allowed to use their e-mail addresses for non-U of A business and political activism?

On the contrary, a similar law was passed in Florida and has held up just fine. The lawmakers aren't being sued for doing their job - they are being sued for passing laws they know to be contrary to state preemption law. There is no reason the taxpayer should have to pay for that defense.

There has been no need as all the officials involved chose to repeal the municipal ordinances instead. The Mayor of West Palm Beach promised to challenge the law in court; but instead he repealed the conflicting municipal ordinance. Apparently, his talks with legal counsel changed his mind.

Kentucky also has this law on the books as well. No issues there either.

I know about Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

I was pointing out the juvenile tactic of stooping to the level of name calling.
 
I also feel that 2517 is an excellent idea - there is a Tucson politician who needs this made law, so he'll stop trying to violate the state preemption law, and yes, if they break the law, they can be prosecuted - this isn't Washington DC.
All of the House Bills in question are languishing waiting to be heard in the Senate Rules Committee. They will do just fine if they get that last hearing before going to the Committee of the Whole and Third Read on the Senate floor.
 
Is there followup to yesterday's event?

How many pro-gun people attend?

Did Brewer listen to the anti-gun group or did she ignore them?

What was said at the press conference?

Was Gabby there too?

What did they say to the Legislature?

Did anyone from our side attend the gathering in the Arizona State Senate Majority Caucus Room?

FOLLOWUP (or the lack there of)

On the Open carry forum, one person said that he might have been the only pro-gun person there. Whatever event there was it might not have amounted to much.

In the Arizona forum, there is a picture of a bus (presumably from Tuscon) and several media vehicles including KTAR.com and Fox 10 . A cursory look on the Fox 10 and KTAR websites didn't reveal anything. I didn't look any further.

Perhaps someone could add to this. But if we only had one pro-gun person show up. That doesn't bode well for us...

Note the event was held during the work week on short notice. Many leftists bussed in for events like this are on the dole already, so they have no commitments to break, while many of us cannot get time off one a one or two day notice. They count on this, which is why they never schedule for a weekend.

The governor and the legislature are there Monday-Friday. Why would you schedule an event like this when no one was at the capitol? Seems like common sense to hold it during the week rather than some leftist plot to keep hard-working patriots from being able to attend.
 
In AZ we are members of AzCDL, 10,000 strong with 2 top flight lobbyists. Formed in 2005 it has changed the landscape in AZ from a restricted state to the most free state for firearms. And one of the safest states IMHO :neener:
