We all know it's coming. Someone who was brave enough to NOT register their "Assault" Weapon here in Connecticut is going to be the first to be arrested and made an example of. Are we going to stand by and let him loose all his life savings, his job, (he'll be a felon) and probably everything he owns trying to defend himself in court?????
If we do we'll be next!!!
I beg EVERYONE, please right now get at least a $10 bill and put it in an envelope and be ready to SEND IT TO HIM, (Do you think the NRA will help him? I doubt it.) the first guy that gets screwed by this horrible law. He will need the best defense he can get to save him from the tyranny!
A few bucks will be well spent from every gun owner to fight this. $10 is less than a box of bullets! WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING! Can you imagine the news media coverage if thousands of gun owners send him $10??? It would be the best thing that could happen.
I hope the first guy is NOT YOU!!!

I'm in for that!

I think all forums and firearms owners should get together and send at least $10 or less or more if possible. Every dollar will help not just him, but us all down the line.

I'm not sure of the law there but I know money talks!
Most often the one with the most money and better lawyers wins. It seems who is right and who is wrong does not matter much when it comes down to it.

Guess I'm a cynic.

Edit: I'll send the money to the person arrested and not to his laywers. I'm sure he will have bills to pay and children to feed. Plus it is a nice touch to go to the attorneys with sacks of 10s and 20s. Photo op time!

Do you mean to leave it to a court system? Feed the lawyer's. Just WOW.

I think that you need something more concrete than socking $10 away for that rainy day.

Crowdfunding efforts have been used to raise money for specific projects and people. Why not work with a reputable CT RKBA group to set up a legal defense fund using a real Crowdfunding site?

The money will need to be in place BEFORE anyone is arrested so anyone "volunteering" to be the first court case has the needed support to step forward.

CCDL's fund is the sort of thing that's needed.

They'll have trouble getting people to use bitcoin with the current spate of hacker/theft problems the bitcoin exchanges have been having so they'll need PayPal and other methods to accept monies.

Great!

CCDL filed for an injunction earler. Has the new information that the CT database is fatally flawed and the large number of citizens not complying with the registration demands had any influence on that?

I just donated to CCDL. Its not much but every little bit helps. We are all in this together, no matter what state we reside in.

Also, every instance (especially the first) should be brought to jury trial, before which every juror should be made aware of nullification.

Option B would be vote Malloy out of office and have Foley repeal the law. Out of state money is allowed during this stage in the cycle. I hope we don't get to the point that one of our fellow citizens gets arrested over the incredibly stupid law that will never, ever, save a single human life.

Option B would be vote Malloy out of office and have Foley repeal the law.

Didn't Foley already say that he can't/won't repeal it? I thought I remembered his statement that had he been governor, he would have vetoed it, and that he will veto further negative gun laws, but that he won't repeal this one. No?

Here we go. I found it.

During a brief question and answer session after his remarks, Foley demurred when asked if he would sign a repeal of the law.

"If the legislature was so inclined — the chances of that happening this year is probably the definition of zero — if I were governor and the legislature put in front of me legislation that would reduce the burden on law-abiding gun owners, I would sign it," he said.
From this article.

Either way, every chance I have, I've been sending money to support CCDL and I encourage all to do similarly.

Well, on the one hand, here's your guy.

On the other hand, i can't really get behind someone shooting squirrels out of season...it gets clouded with PETA issues..

has been charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, cruelty to an animal, reckless endangerment, breach of peace, failure to register an assault rifle and possessing large-capacity magazines.

...perhaps it was an assault .22lr.
