I just recently posted about a new-to-me Para 7.45 LDA I purchased to go with the other one I already had. Here's the link: HERE

Well, I put 250 rounds through it since I got it and it started not firing every 20th or 30th round. The hammer and trigger are seemingly working properly but the hammer stops just short of the firing pin, weird right. With full disclosure the guy I bought it from is a friend and he told me the gun was having issues but I didn't care as I have a LOT of 1911s and I have a working extra of that same gun anyways. I figured if it went down I'd fix it and still be happy as the 5" LDA guns are gone and good one are becoming impossible to find.

Well, I called CS and they e-mailed me a form to fill out and I was honest. I told them that I have no idea how many owners there have been, how many rounds have been fired, and I'd be willing to pay for repairs. They e-mailed me back and said they are fixing a gun for free under a warranty that was made while they were still Para-Ord and before they offered lifetime warranties. And they are sending me a check to reimburse my shipping!

Awesome!!

Well, I got the gun back yesterday and I basically have a new gun. And remember this is a gun that was made before they had a lifetime warranty; so, they could have charged me the $203 for the repair but they didn't.

I called them about the new hammer, as I prefer the appearance of the old hammer, and they said it was beyond repair and that the new hammers actually have a shorter travel than the older version. Below is the hammer at rest and at its furthest point of travel.

I am very happy with their CS and now I need to buy another Para; probably that 6" 10mm.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them. I just wish mine had been half as good. I dumped a fullsize Para several years ago because I couldn't get them to fix an out of spec disconnector.

PARA has been making good on a promise to clean up their image in the last few years. I have a GI expert and it is a great 1911 for what I paid for it.

Glad you had a good experience with CS . I also hope they fixed it. I sent them a 1 shot jammer and got a 2 shot jammer back. Like yours paper work looked like almost a total rebuild . I swore off that brand forever.

I have never had a issue with any of my three PO guns, 18-9LDA, 14-45 Signature, 16-40 Limited. All have been reliable and super accurate.

Glad you had a better experience that me. My .40 Para jammed and would not take any magazines in the gun (Para brand or Mec Gar). Factory wrote me a long explanation of why .40 S&W bullets in a truncated cone should not be used in this gun. Too many Bubba's there for me to buy another one.

My PO's are ca. 5 to 10 years old. The 18-9LDA is the newest.
My 45 feeds LSWC as well as FMJ ammo. In. The 40 I have used truncated cone bullets as well as JSP. In the 9mm I only have used RN and JHP bullets.

My Para warranty experience was quite the opposite. Once I told them I was the second owner, they wanted nothing to do with my junk frame issue...
First and last Para for me:barf:

I agree. Anytime I've had a question or needed a part, a short phone call to Doug in the CS dept got me quickly taken care of.

I've always appreciated his personal attention and help. My LDA Carry model was discontinued, but he's kept me running.

I've had 3, two of which I bought new. I dumped about $500 in to the first one before it would run properly.
The second one was a custom build, so it actually ran.
The third had an improperly fit barrel. When I took it to a local gunsmith, he said to send it in. I called and they told me to send it in. They charged me over $200 for other parts they put in, but, never addressed the barrel. When I called and asked why they did nothing with the barrel, they said it was ok. I bought an Ed Brown Barrel, and had a local gunsmith properly fit it.
No more Paras for me.:what:

I've had four, two bought new and two bought used. Had difficulties with one (used C6 LDA). This was probably 8-9 years ago.

Para CS was great by me. Wife still has a Tac-Four LDA.
