So the basic answer is obvious. While there are people that support him, most of Bloomberg's "grass roots" are bought and paid for by his billions. On our side we have, what? Four to five million NRA members, and a great many more times that number of gun owners overall? If everyone chips in, it's not going to break anyone's bank account to match the would-be king's numbers.

So now the discussion and planning part, the details. First and foremost:

Where should you donate your $$$ to have the maximum impact? Preferably against whatever Mike specifically has in mind, if he's laid out detailed plans yet.

Donating to just the "NRA" would probably be about the worst thing to do - ironically. Bloomberg calls his latest initiative "Every Town for Gun Safety," and NRA does teach gun safety. But gun safety to Bloomberg is buying politicians that subscribe to his elitist, gun-hating views.

So to me it's down to the NRA-ILA or NRA-PVF. Being a major midterm year, my gut tells me to go with the PVF. I have a hard time seeing the current Congress taking a stab at anything, but Bloomberg has plenty of $$$ to try and grease the works.

And how about local stuff too? I live in NC. We've made some great 2A strides since ending many decades of Democrat rule in the State. However, our current leaders have also managed to earn the ire of...EVERYONE in the State for something or the other. Not sure how much of a priority rolling back our pro-gun gains are to the State Democrat machine, but IMO it will be inevitable should they regain control of the general assembly.

I would probably add one more question as well, how to try to make sure that the "everyone" I mentioned above helps do their part. IMO:
1) Get out the word about the threat
2) Answer the first question to have a concrete reply when they hopefully ask, "great, so what do I need to do?"

I'd say our side won an early skirmish, as a pro-gun person took the Facebook page with the name of Bloomberg's latest project: https://www.facebook.com/Everytownforgunsafety Could also be informative, to see how dirty Mike's willing to play. Or not - I read a comment from an anti that he's just going to change the name of his current FB group, "Demand Action." Which honestly would make more sense, you'd have your community already established.

I say we let him blow his cash on publicity/advertising as much as possible. It's probably the least efficient thing he could possibly do (and besides, the more he spends, the more it inflates advertising rates, and further dilutes his 'investment'). Using money to directly fund candidates' decision making is far more worrisome to me, but he will at least have less reason to be sneaky about it after the recent SCOTUS ruling. Be certain that he will dump the maximum into every last anti-gunner's campaign, so long as they run up against people he doesn't care for*; it's entirely legal to do so, now. It's also entirely legal for us to do so now, as well, so we shouldn't feel squeamish about 'interfering' in non-local politics. On this one issue, at least, the stakes are hardly local.

*Part of me wonders if this will drive the formation of 'straw candidates' who run a terrifying pro-gun campaign with the hope of attracting Bloomer's moolah from afar for the serious candidate (yeah, I know that's supposed to be illegal...). Just funny though, since to get his money, you will definitely need to be both a vocal Anti, and have a mean 'ol scumbag gun nut villain going up against you; which will the money increase the need for? ;)

I will begin to make periodic donations to the NRA-PVF starting next payday. Today I signed up for a life membership with the Second Amendment Foundation and plan on donating to them periodically to help support their legal challenges to the latest (and future) gun control laws.

Onfacebook, people have been hijacking the "Everytown for Gun Safety - Yourtown" byu the thousands. And then loading the page with links to the NRA, GOA, etc.

I don't know if its effective, but its fun, and that's important too

I think things like that are effective. Think of your average Joe that lives under a rock and sees an ad for something like everytown that says all Americans agree and only the 'big evil scary NRA' is stopping 'common sense', then when he logs onto the facebook page and sees every day citizens lashing out at the injustice, and giving hard facts for people to think about, I definitely think it will do a lot more good than harm.

One thing to think about too, the anti-gun politicians are trying to keep it down about their agenda until after the election cycle, and Bloomberg keeps bringing it back up and reminding people that their Freedom is in jeopardy.

Make sure that Your mayor isn't part of Bloomberg's organizations. Pay them a visit and tell them not only will you donate money to their strongest opponent (regardless of their party affiliation), but you'll work for their campaign to ensure any mayor supporting Bloomberg is replaced. Doesn't matter if the replacement is going to be one to join either, what matters is that the sitting mayor gets a clear message that they'll be out of office if they join any of Bloomberg's organizations. Losing their paycheck from the public is the threat.

Do the same for your other elected politicians. Visit them and tell them point blank that Bloomberg is "radioactive" and any support for his organizations will trigger you and your friends/family/clubs actively working to see them put out of office.

True dat. And as for effective, BLOOMBERG'S page either got yanked or was taken down when someone realized that 95%+ of the comments on there were pro-2A.

Hahaha......They took down that Facebook page. :D I guess they couldn't take all the pro-2nd responses.

So they shut down the original persons, who took the name, and a few ones with similar names. Now they shut theirs down a couple days later.... LOL

I'm not surprised that ole Mayor Mike shut down his latest astroturf Facebook page. As the younger generation of videogamers would say, Mayor Mike got "pwned" by pro-2a people. The pages were littered with respectable pro-2a posts, with hardly any noise from the other side. Pwned indeed!

So now they've transitioned the Demand Action page to Everytown.

I posted there a couple of times this morning, checked back in this evening and all my posts are gone and I have no option to post anything else. "Start a conversation," indeed...

Bloomberg seems to have a negative impact on gun control the more he publicly postures about the subject, like another celebrity loud mouth I recall. Even a relative anti-gunner like Nancy Grace told Piers Morgan to Shut UP! about his gun control preaching on his old show. I think Bloomberg and Morgan ought to partner up and blow Bloomberg's billions exposing gun control as a smerge of bans on demon rum, reefer madness, seduction of the innocents comicbooks, Satanic Ritual Abuse, and a dozen other counterproductive Moral Panicks of the 20th Century, once and for all.

I'd like to see THAT happen, but I think PM knows he sunset his career abusing people on his show over the 2A issue and I think Michael Bloomberg is smart enough to use victims as his only front in his campaign.
