Someone in her economic class doesn't need my sympathy

Interesting comment. So if she had been in a lower economic class she would have got your sympathy? Not really sure she's looking for any of your "sympathy".

i don,t understand all the high fives on the TV shows when one of the so called super hunters harvests a animal, i have never seen it in my hunting world in 61 years of hunting. and the african hunters carrying their rifles by the muzzle, while hunting in africa i have never seen a hunter doing that. to me facebook is a none issue,i,m not on it and never looked at it. eastbank.

She has the means to even be doing these things in the first place and she was doing them for nothing more than pleasure. If, because she was ignorant/arrogant/ill-advised enough to publicly post pictures of herself doing them, the results are all hers. Wealthy people have so much that is just absolutely frickin' wonderful in their lives that I have no sympathy for a "problem" like this. It isn't like she has leukemia, or receives death threats for working at a homeless shelter, or got paralyzed saving kittens from a burning building.
Is publicly posting photos now such an integral part of the hunt that not doing so destroys enjoyment of the whole event?
Perhaps she will come out of this with the realizations that you don't have to publicize your life and that not everybody is going to like everything you do. Those are valuable realizations for people from any economic class. Maybe especially for people whose wealth gives them a wider array of options at the start.

Sorry, Joe, but folks have been photographing their kills for many a decade, going back to the early days of photography. The only real difference now is the Internet, which makes it easier for you to show your friends how much fun you had.

Probably the best examples of this are the threads here by caribou. Lots of happiness shown in many of the photos.

Me, I always figured that families have the absolute right to spend their money on any legal activity which is appealing to them. I don't have envy, I'm not jealous of those with a bunch of money. Heck, nobody ever got any of my money that I didn't want to willingly spend, except the government. It's good that her folks could afford her deal.

The gal probably didn't realize how many people would go all bat-guano nutzoidal against her happiness over her successes. Probably just figured the photos would be of interest to those on her Friends list. Didn't realize that the world is full of little minds who seek opportunities to rain on other people's parades.

Yeah how dare someone post pictures of something they're proud of!!!

Interesting that as part of a hunting trek that she'd be allowed to do the tranquilizing of the rhino. Must be that she'd shown adequate skill such that she was trusted to be accurate. Rhinos are not noted for their pacifism, and this one was described as inherently hostile.

here,s a picture of the biggist turkey i ever misssed, don,t it just make you green with envy? and their are some people who are not happy unless they are raining on some one,s parade. eastbank.

That's a nice one . He looks just like the one that didn't get close enough to me .

Some of you seem to have forgotten life before the internet, or maybe you are too young to remember it. Hunting pictures are nothing new. I have a couple pages of them in a photo album, myself. I can pick and choose who to show them to, or not show them to anybody at all. Now, when you put your hunting pictures up on the web in such a way that virtually anybody, anywhere with an internet connection can see them and comment on you...well, you get what you get. Ignorance, carelessness, and arrogance can all yield astonishingly similar results, sometimes. I don't know which was at work here, don't much care either. If she had posted pictures of herself doing something of which you don't personally approve, I expect the defense of her would be substantially less spirited
In any case, the problems of the wealthy are their problems, even when they bring them on themselves.

This girl and her family have the means to do something that most of us only dream of being able to do and it is her fault that she has received death threats from the anti hunting crowd? Wow. Simply classy that.

Ignorance, carelessness, and arrogance can all yield astonishingly similar results, sometimes.
Clearly.

In any case, the problems of the wealthy are their problems, even when they bring them on themselves.
The only one bringing up class is you and it absolutely nothing to do with the issue. The issue is the anti hunting crowd and animals rights activists have made death threats to a 17 year old girl for engaging in the perfectly legal pursuance of hunting dangerous and big game in Africa. Hunters in Africa have done more good for the animal populations and the economic situation that all of the animal rights zealots combined.

Countries that have banned hunting have seen a sharp decline in revenue and animal populations. Or worse yet, populations have gone up to levels that can not be supported by the land and animals are starving to death. H&Hhunter has written extensively on the topic so I will not rehash it here.

How you can turn this into a "rich people are scum and they get what they deserve" simply boggles the mind. I wish I had those problems, one of my life goals is to hunt cape buffalo with a good friend of mine. And if it ever happens you can sure as heck bet I am posting pics of it. Heck I might take out a bill board.

Yes, I am bringing up class. This woman and her family are better off than most of the people in the world. She has the freedom, money, and the leisure to do things that many people only dream of doing. In a world where people starve or live under tyranny or a Christless huge number of other really, really bad things, I find the expectation that anybody should feel bad for this privileged lass absolutely ludicrous. You feel bad for the poor little rich girl, if you like. For my part, I have no quarrel with her family having money or her going hunting; but I don't think I am ever going to have much sympathy for people who publicize their lives and then are dismayed to find there are yahoos out there.

So because her family is well off means that people can threaten her life, but hey it's ok because she is rich. Wow.

I am not sorry for her, nor am I defending her because she is rich but because she is right and because she has not done anything illegal or immoral. But I guess only poor folk have the right to be secure in what they do with out fear of death threats. Mighty big of ya...

Joe's argument seems to be very similar to the arguments used by rape apologists, i.e. "she was dressed provocatively, so clearly she was asking for it."

I find it interesting that whenever one of these controversies blows up on the internet, the victim is always a woman.

Pretty much, I had the same argument with a very left leaning woman this morning.

I contended that if it was pictures of a some fat beer bellied gentleman posed with the animals, not a peep would have been uttered, much less thrown in the national spotlight.

In any case, the problems of the wealthy are their problems, even when they bring them on themselves.
I didn't see tyranny by the politically correct and public bullying by the permanently aggrieved to be uniquely a problem of the wealthy.

My bad.

When I walk into my local Sportsmans Warehouse there's an entire wall of pics of people with their kills. Being proud of a successful hunt isn't a bad thing.

You can use your logic and facts as much as you want.

Most people lack common sense.

Being that, the animal lovers see just what they see.

Dead animals, killed by a human.

You can argue all you want, but the fact is they won't understand one iota of connservation hunting.

Whatever happens is going to happen, this is one argument that can't be swayed. Animal rights people just write it off as a BS excuse

"Killing them to save them", is a non winning arguement. In it's simplest terms, it makes no sense, but with further research (that they won't be willing to do) it does.

As I've said before, Facebook (and Twitter) is going to be the end of this country.

Exactly.

This young woman doesn't conform to the preconceived notions of what a "true woman" is on the left, and her actions cause a great deal of anguish, resulting in a lashing out that is nothing more than a politically acceptable equivalent of slut-shaming.

Doubt it.

That fat beer belllied guy probably:
1. Doesn't have a facebook
2. Doesn't represent any professional institution (say a college).
3. Probably isn't exposing his exploits to the rest of the world for a chance of fame.
4. Isn't trying to start a TV show.

Edit: how quickly we forget that a few short years ago, Donald Trumps sons caught flak for hunting elephants...

Social Media. Exposure.

You reap what you sow.
When using a social media outlest, one should be aware of the consequences.

Art, with respect, the fact that people have been photographing their trophies for years gives them no support by reasonable people, except by the ignorant and the vain. Folks have been bragging about their activities since time began, but how is that a reason in this case?

I tend to look at every action or inaction from a moralistic point of view. Is it right or is it wrong? Few events fall into the gray area. Is it right to boast of animal kills? Is it wrong to boast of animal kills? It is one or it is the other. Is it pleasing to Heaven that a child of God boast at all? Of course not. When it goes viral on the Internet, the pleasing or non-pleasing attribute is magnified in the view of souls still alive on earth, and imprints something on their hearts.

I say without preaching that posting pictures of oneself with animal carcasses is never pleasing. Not to me, not to Heaven, not to anyone but the blood thirsty. It amounts to a display of ego. It is an attempt to be noticed, a thing she has attained. IMO, which counts for nothing, she is insecure in the extreme.

It's a thing I would not do. It's a thing people I hunt with would not do. It's a thing I reject as sinful. Post no photo of yourself for self glory. Make no statements to bring you favor in man's eye. Commit no acts that will be considered by others as anything but meek. The photos in question depict no meekness. They depict extreme ego. Ego is pride. Pride is self destructive.
