I'm kind of a gun/gear snob but now I want to go cheap for a moment. I bought a good used Gen3 Glock 21 the other day and I'm looking at some Kydex holsters. This is strictly for the range. The criteria is Kydex, pretty durable, OWB, and a bargain. I've looked at the Blade-Tech Revolution but they're only offered in right hand and I'm a lefty. I'm thinking about an Alien Gear OWB Cloak but I'm having a hard time finding reviews. Anybody have or use one? Is the attachment to the belt solid? Any others I should consider in the under $40 class?

TIA

There are reviews all over the web and YouTube, but for the iwb mostly; however, the iwb and owb should be made of the same material, should share the same fully swappable plastic shell, and should share the same clips as the iwb holsters.

I haven't heard of any real complaints. It's a modular system, you can use swappable plastic shell to use one holster for multiple guns, and they have the best warranty on the market which includes a money back guarantee. IMHO, it's a $100 holster for 1/3 the price (for now anyway).

My only gripe is the long wait time... If it makes you feel better, you could email them and inquire about paying more for the hostler, or you could wait for the price to rise. Either way, it's worth the money,my problem was deciding if it was worth the wait. The warranty, the fact that I could get free replacement shells if I sold my gun, etc is the only reason I choose to wait.

I doubt that they can keep their prices the same while offering that type of warranty for long imho...

Don't know about the OWB but my IWB has been top notch, I would have no worries buying from aliengear again.

take a look at the old faithful holsters also. There is an option for the cost conscious, assembly it yourself

Alien Gear and Old Faithful have merged. From the looks of the Old Faithful website, as a brand they're on the way out. They no longer list any kits, just fully assembled holsters at what I consider way too high of a price.

Alien Gear's prices are right about where Old Faithful's level III kit prices were, but Alien Gear's Kydex color selection is right out of Henry Ford's Model T color chart.

I liked the Digital Camo of my Old Faithful holsters.

Well I got my Alien OWB holster for my Gen3 G21 today. My first impression is it's somewhat crude but it only cost $30 and it's certainly serviceable. We're not talking about a Milt Sparks here. I thought the fit of the pistol was way too loose but, when I put the holster on a belt, things tightened up. It rides pretty high, doesn’t have much cant and isn't made to be adjustable like the IWB, but it's nothing that can't be fixed by punching a couple of holes. It is comfortable. I just did a couple of dozen presentations, but no shooting, and it's very fast. Overall I like it. The holster holds the gun in very tight so there's no problem with concealment under a cover shirt. This may end up being my carry rig eventually. Time will tell. I'm certainly a better shot with the 21 than the 36 I usually carry.
